So… the justification for the “excursion” is to prevent Iran from having nukes that they might use to wipe out a city. And a reasonable price to pay for that safety is… letting them wipe out a city.

Trump: "I am the best and smartest boy ever! Can someone tell me how special I am?" Fluffer: "You are wonderful, sir." Trump: "How about wonderful times infinity?"

It is noteworthy that he didn’t ask to be sent to fight the Nazis.

Gotta make sure only loyalists are in charge, otherwise Trump won’t be able to declare martial law to hold onto power after the elections.

Respectfully, that is a proposed law which was introduced in the state assembly. Mamdani has nothing to do with it.

It’s considerably more terrifying that bigoted morons like this have been elected to write our laws.

My kid decided in the first grade that they wanted to be referred to as "they/them." I said, "Okay, no problem" because I love my kid. People like JD Vance just want to be able to tell everyone else who and what they are supposed to be. People like JD Vance deserve to be launched into the sun.

Stopped reading that statement after the "on both sides." As though both sides are experiencing a genocide. That alone makes Sheeran's stance on things pretty clear.

I didn’t have “the Trump administration’s incompetence forces the world to rapidly divest from oil” on my bingo card. Would’ve definitely preferred a more-competent, less-economic-crash-y way though.

Everyone in this administration operates under the mentality of "just let the big strong man take what he wants and he'll stop hurting you."

To be fair, RFK is as qualified to do that as he is to run health services. And vice versa for Markwayne.

And we just lost war games against drones. If those billions of dollars have to go to the military (note: they don’t and shouldn’t), then maybe we should work on developing our drone warfare capabilities rather than retrofitting our big, expensive capital ships.

This Trump's favorite kind of math. He wanted to do this during Covid as well. Just don't count the bad numbers. Voila! We're going great! Hopefully now people finally understand that the horrible economy wasn't just because of the pandemic.

It's incredible when idiots write stuff like this as though we're supposed to forget that "moderate" Democrats have spent the past decade losing to MAGA.

If only Trump was smart enough to understand that he just described the mechanism through which wars endlessly escalate.

As a former wildland firefighter, people need to understand there is little that can be done to stop large wildfires. We can dig lines and cut firebreaks if they're slow and small enough. But if they're really big, as the ones in Canada are, you just have to hold out and hope the weather changes.

Lightly Starched Creations @lightlystarched.bsky.social · 17/07/2026
Maybe just let us transition away from coal and oil like we need to, if he hates massive wildfires so much.

Lindsey Graham was basically the little sidekick dog from the old Looney Toons, who bounced around whichever dog he thought was bigger and stronger, barking about all the great things they were going to do. I'd be surprised if anyone is talking about Graham five years from now, much less 200.

"We had a deal [...] and then they broke up that deal immediately because they found out there was something in the deal they didn't like." THAT MEANS WE DIDN'T HAVE A DEAL, FFS. If the other side doesn't agree to the terms it's not a deal, it's just us making demands.

Behold, the duality of man.
A tweet from Hunter Biden, which reads:
“When I heard about Senator Graham's death last night, the first thing I thought about was not all the things he said and did in service of Donald Trump. I thought of the time before Donald Trump when he was a brother to Senator John McCain.

A time when senators from different parties could fight about politics and still be friends. A time when a conservative Republican from South Carolina could say of my father: "If you can't admire Joe Biden as a person, you've got a problem. He's the nicest person I've ever met in politics. As good a man as God ever created."

That is the Senator Graham I will remember today.
Not because I have forgotten what came after.
Because in that memory there is hope. Hope for a country where brothers can fight like hell over policy and still share a meal, and a laugh, and the loss of the people they love.

I will choose to remember the time before Trump.
Because I believe in an America after Trump.”A tweet from Michael Fanone which reads:

“Lindsey Graham is dead. I will always remember my first and only encounter with him when he looked the grieving mother of a dead police officer in the face and barked that he wasn't going to listen to her blame Trump for January 6th. When I showed him my body cam footage from that day he turned away and looked at his phone. Rest in Piss you fucking worthless scumbag. If there is a hell I hope you're in it.”

Trump robbed the team of an amazing story. As unlikely as it may have been, if they had managed to fight through even without their star player… that’s the stuff of sports legends. Instead, he put them in a lose-lose situation: get a tarnished win or lose while the whole world hates them.

Ah, man, he's on to us. We tried to trick them into caring about other people. And we would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling sociopaths in the White House.

Considering the results yesterday, Jeffries may instead want to thank Mamdani for talking Chi Osse out of running for Jeffries’ seat.

Yes it's that as well, somewhat. But I'm too old and cynical to believe we'd have this level of civic engagement if Trump wasn't such a disaster domestically. Having been to the protests for Palestine during Biden's term, the difference in crowd sizes compared to the No Kings rallies is stark.

The bank bailout bill was signed into law by George W. Bush, and yet the Tea Party went after Obama. They cared about fiscal malfeasance in the same way the Confederacy cared about states rights.

This movement is a response to the growing authoritarian tendencies of the Trump GOP, people rising up to save Democracy. The Tea Party was a response to a black man getting elected president.

Sipping coffee and reading about all the DSA primary wins this morning has been a great mood boost to start the day. It’s a good year to be a New Yorker. I hope everyone takes some time to enjoy these victories, and then gears back up for the push to November.

Oh, I see. No, I meant the bearded guy is known as "The Baklava Guy." You can look up videos of him on Youtube. I wasn't saying he was the only one handing out baklava.

The bearded dude is The Baklava Guy. He does that at events. He was handing out baklava at the watch parties for the Knicks as well.

The usual Republican tactic: start from a baseless assumption and extrapolate outward. “Trump is a genius,” therefore everything he does is brilliant regardless of how stupid it seems.

Lightly Starched Creations @lightlystarched.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
This is satire, right? This has to be satire. I refuse to believe any serious person would argue that Democrats need to try harder appeal to the right as though that tactic hasn’t been attempted many times over. Democrats need to stop moving to the right. Period. That shit needs to be done with.

Tonight is our last fundraising deadline before the campaigns enter the final Get Out the Vote phase. Billionaires like Michael Bloomberg are spending millions to keep corporate Democrats in power in Albany. We can’t let him beat us. Donate today at actblue.com/donate/slate2026.

Grassroots movements. There are a lot of us that showed up in Albany to confront the legislators to tax the rich. We haven’t gotten everything we want but we’re going to keep showing up until we do.

By way of contrast, a little over a year ago there were attorneys resigning in protest over being pressured by the DOJ to drop corruption charges against our former mayor. It took a lot of work, but we’ve come a long way.
