In all and as far as could be found very little of the credited contributors list AI (after about 30 minutes checking). Most centered around the icons or fonts, the exceptions being dpaint-js and bxfr dot net javascript. Obviously don't know if those are part of MD Engine itself or were just (1/2)

I do find that very honest from the position you are in - necessarily vague due to uncertainty rather than just evasive. I may do some looking up regarding the credits you have mentioned to try to get a clearer idea. At the very least, thank you and I appreciate what you have said.

But at the same time, they also point to the fact they are not a small team - in which case, it would also be a lot to ask for a bigger team to say for sure. So the size of the team doesn't really matter in a way that being the case. I suppose the simpler ask is "does a purchase fund users of AI?"
