My quilt series - Generative Threads - integrates algorithmic code with quilting to examine identity’s cyclical evolution. Through shifting colour and geometric pattern, the work reflects states of visibility, erasure and personal expansion. #genart 13 years of quilting + code. 🖤 13, 12, 11, 10…

Generative Quilt top 4 of 13. Four colours with a hint of the fifth colour that shows up in Quilt 5. Designed with Processing, sewn with luv. 🖤 #genart #genartclub #generativeart

It takes Processing about 2 seconds to render this design and it takes me approximately FOREVER to sew it. This is 10/13 (but I’m not doing them in order so I have 7 more to go. 😭) #genart #generativeart

I only photograph quilts on the windiest days. Generative Threads Quilt 13/13. Designed with 13 year old code and handmade with love. 🖤 Credit where credit is due: my Processing + Hype framework started as a collab w/ Joshua Davis. Forever grateful. #generativeart #generativetextiles #genart

Facing a quilt with gold fabric. On a scale of 1 - 10, How fun will it be to hand-stitch through the pigment? ☠️

I’ve quietly been working on 13 Quilts. All designed by original generative code I began using 13 years ago in collab with @praystation. I’ve always loved that the computer is like, “Surprise! Here’s some crazy shit I came up with. Now figure out how to make it real.” Exhibit in France this Fall.
Stack of papers with geometric designs, marked up in pen with lines and measurements to make into a real quilt. Stack of three quilt tops made in cotton fabrics in black, grey, pink, aqua and acid yellow.

I finished the top of Quilt 13 for my Generative Threads project. Only twelve more to go. Used the original #Processing code from 2012 to render the series. #genart #generativetextiles

The top for Number 13 of 13 generative quilts, designed with #Processing code from 2012, is almost complete! 😅 Downside… I’m working backwards so I still have 12 quilts to go. 😂 #generativequilts #genart #generativetextiles #generativecraft (Do we even use hashtags in Bsky?)

Are people setting up Flashes? And, if so, are you really setting up a dedicated account? I’m trying to decide how to proceed…because social media is exhausting and I need efficiency.
Screenshot of an intro page on the Flashes app that says, “Want the best experience? Consider creating a dedicated Bluesky account for your visual content. It’s a great way to keep your photo and video sharing separate from your regular Bluesky activities.”

I started sewing a repurposed garment yesterday out of these Warhol x Levi’s that never fit me right. But today I’ve decided to leave the project until after QuiltCon. I just want to spend time with my family and not feel the pressure to show up in AZ with ‘all the things’.
Photo of the inside of a pair of cut-up Andy Warhol x Levi’s jeans. The printing on the inside says ‘Fragile Handle with Care’ in repeat. The stamp on the pocket shows an image of Andy Warhol and says it’s pair 148/297. Waist size 28.

Really happy with the simple grid quilting on this Chaos quilt. This is an example of a possible outcome in my Chaos With A Twist class where we use randomization to determine design outcomes. 🤩 Quilting by Honeybee Quilt Studio. #quiltsky #genart

Happy Friday. Let’s be gentle with one another after a chaotic week. Acts of kindness in your community go a long way.

I keep forgetting to use #quiltsky on my posts but also, I’ll be post more non-quilt things on here than I do on Instagram. Just FYI.

I started a series of #legsonquilts photos several years ago. My ‘No Fun’ socks in this photo are very on-point for how I feel lately. But the Orbiter quilt is still awesome. 😂

Working on my ‘Chaos with a Twist’ class where I go through a set of generative exercises - like rolling dice and pulling bingo chips - and each participant ends up making a different quilt based on their set of rules. I need to get my sample quilted asap! 😬

I finished this quilt top a while back but have no idea how to quilt it. I don’t own a long arm. (Still hoping for a sponsorship.) Collab with @joshuadavis.bsky.social based on a digital render from cellular automata code. #genartclub #quiltingwithcode

Folks are signing up for my 2025 Block of the Month sewsquad.libselliott.com and I asked them to vote on their favourite sampler mock-up. So far, this blue version is winning. It's TOTALLY different than the neon bright one I'll be making but that's what I love about quilting + colour choices.
