I was going to write a witty riposte to this one, something mellifluous that would defenestrate its illogicality with ruthless precision and erudite confidence. Then I thought: Bollocks, what's the point?

Like I said, it's a fuck-up, vast or otherwise. And yes, the people you mentioned aren't the 'media' to which I was referring...

Libretio @libretio.bsky.social · 1h
If you've had to 'endure' them, it's doubtful your view of this issue is predicated solely on the wrongness (or otherwise) of this particular vote...

Immaterial. He goes with the majority. Them's the rules. If you know a way around this blockade that doesn't involve authoritarian-style overreach, please let me know.

Libretio @libretio.bsky.social · 1h
Oh, I get that this has been a fuck-up of vast proportions. I just don't think it's enough of a fuck-up to warrant the kind of media attention it's been getting for entirely nefarious purposes.

So if he understood better than *anyone* that rules exist to prevent authoritarian overreach, he would have engaged in authoritarian overreach anyway and did what you wanted? That's not leadership. That's, er... authoritarian overreach.

Libretio @libretio.bsky.social · 2h
Rules exist to prevent authoritarian overreach. It's a fair bet ZP understands this better than anyone. I didn't notice any squared circles in your response, by the way.
100
Libretio @libretio.bsky.social · 2h
Then square the circle. If the leader prefers X, but a majority of the membership wants Y, and the rules of the party are that you go with the majority vote, how do you proceed? If ZP intervened here, how could he be trusted not to intervene in something less contentious?

Libretio @libretio.bsky.social · 2h
He's the leader of a party where policy is decided by members, not the leadership. I mean, what's difficult to understand?

When they embraced green issues, they were dismissed as tree huggers. Now they're pursuing social policies with the environment at its core, they're 'hard left'. The MSM doesn't have to do very much to convince some people against their own best interests.

Libretio @libretio.bsky.social · 5h
It's not 'just' anything. It's many things. Including the MSM trying to bury ZP because he represents real change to the status quo. Which bit of this are you unable to comprehend?

Anyone who advocates for our removal from the Council of Europe is an authoritarian-in-waiting who wants to use the absence of ECHR legislation to impose tyranny on us all. It's designed to protect us from the kind of people who champion its removal in the first place. Traitors, in other words.

As long as the Tories are threatening to leave the ECHR, they aren’t a serious party. Consider it the ultimate red flag. Any party who’d take this entirely unnecessary and ruinous risk with our rights and our country’s security and wellbeing should never get its hands on power. (Letter, Times)
Value of the
ECHR
Sir, In dangerous times, serious countries do not retreat into splendid isolation. They build alliances, multiply their influence and strengthen institutions. Key among those is the 46-member Council of Europe, at its heart the European Convention on Human Rights. As former independent reviewers of terrorism legislation we have seen at close quarters that the ECHR is not just a human rights instrument. It is a national security asset. Terrorist networks, hostile states, organised crime gangs and people smugglers do not respect borders. Tackling them requires arrangements for the closest possible co-operation with our neighbours, including through joint investigations and police access to European passenger, fingerprint, DNA and vehicle data. These arrangements expressly depend on internationally agreed human rights standards, applied by a supranational court. We detect no political willingness to excuse the UK from compliance with standards to which the rest of Europe already subscribes. As authoritarian powers grow more aggressive and democratic institutions face mounting pressure, Britain should not be abandoning one of its greatest postwar achievements.
The question is not whether we can afford to remain within the ECHR. It is whether, in an increasingly perilous world, we can afford not to.
Lord Carlile of Berriew, Lord Anderson of Ipswich, Sir Max Hill

You get that the media is making more of an issue of this than is necessary, right? To bury ZP because they believe he represents a potential threat to the status quo? And that drinking their rancid Kool-Aid is simply helping them to do it?...

Libretio @libretio.bsky.social · 9h
So, basically: Let's maintain the status quo and not look for a better solution. So long as it's the Palestinians who're hurting, who cares? I agree that any solution to this issue is likely impossible, but maintaining said status quo cannot be an option post-Netanyahu.

You woudln't be cheerleading for that 'tiny' state if it was dropped on YOUR head and you were told to clear out or be killed. The consequences of these things are always easy to defend when it's happening to other people...

Couldn't agree more! And if the convo was about those things, I'm sure we'd all be more than happy to make rude comments about the CUNTS who stole those lands from their respective peoples. But we aren't. We're talking about Israel and Palestine. You're welcome.

The Green Party and Zack Polanski must NOT make the mistake that Jeremy Corbyn made when the Labour Party was targeted by preposterous attacks like this. You can't appease bad-faith actors. So my advice is, get on the front foot and face down these bad-faith actors.

Green party 'wankers' don't get to define it, but you do? Enough to 'know' that it's racist? And how the fuck does opposition to a destructive ideology (as defined by those who posited by the motion) amount to 'racism' in the first fucking place?...

Libretio @libretio.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Pretty sure ZP would have nixed the whole thing if he could, but the Greens are a party where everyone gets a voice. This kind of thing is the inevitable consequence. Media's making a big noise about it in their continued effort to bury Polanski before he can become a real threat to the status quo.

Anyone who says Reeves is a 'bad' actor, I say THE GIFT (one of his few villains), and any of his performances in the Bill & Ted movies. Also MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO. He's become a big action star, but he didn't get there by being a hack. I have no time for his detractors.

Nope. Mogg represents the same ideology as Hitler, but with a posher accent. He would happily have complied with the Nazis if he'd been around at the time, and if they had occupied the UK.

"I care if you fail..." This is where Tillis himself fails, having assumed that Trump could ever have succeeded in the first place. He calls others 'cowards and fools', but doesn't include himself amongst them for having anything to do with Trump at all. Talk about lack of self-awareness...

She seems to think that her Asian 'heritage' (quotes used deliberately) inoculates her against accusations of racism. It doesn't. Farage embraced her because she's willing to prostitute her integrity on the altar of white nationalism. A useful idiot, in other words. And a truly damaged individual.

The UK has always had a right-wing media. But they are now a hysterical, disinformation spreading cartel. Weaponised by Brexit lies, Corbyn smears, defending Boris Johnson, spreading racism & trying to delegitimise the very idea of a Labour Govt. Another rotten vested interest needing reform.
