Heard a horrible thunk against my 3rd 📚 floor window, and found this guy assiduously avoiding eye contact. Buddy, I empathize with walking into walls. You're in good company.

Long and far after the summer interim began.
They saw the cities and knew the minds of many men,

Big things at the Sie FilmCenter! Support your local indie cinema!
A cute little picture of me with text:
Member of the Month: Larry Eames!

Each month, members will have the chance to be nominated by the Sie floor staff to be chosen as next month's member of the month. The winner will be chosen based on a combination of strength, valor, and dedication to loving movies as much as we do.

We have the honor to announce that our Member of the Month for April is Larry Eames, who you'll likely recognize for being at the Sie as much as we are. If you see Larry around the Sie, say hi and stop for a quick movie chat-- here is some Larry Eames trivia to help break the ice:

Favorite Movie: STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN (this is unironically true, it's the first movie that ever made me cry and also it's a masterpiece)

How long have you been a member/patron of the Sie: Since January 2025 (and I ran the numbers, I've seen 273 films at the Sie in that time. I'm not controlling for shorts in that math, but still)

Last Movie seen at the Sie: APOCALYPSE NOW

Favorite movie of 2025: favorite 2025 release: RESURRECTION/ favorite movie I saw from any other year: THE WAGES OF FEAR

Favorite Movie Trivia Fact: In THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE, all the characters have the same first names as the actors playing them because the lead, Ana--who was 7 at the time, kept getting confused between character names and actor names so they changed the script to make it easier for her. I think that's really sweet.

Man who's only studied one region of art history: man, getting some real Mario de Andrade vibes from this... (Can't find the photo I'm thinking of on its own, but it is the cover of Errant Modernism which is a banger)
The cover of Esther Gabara's "Errant Modernism: the Ethos of Photography in Mexico and Brazil"

A nearly monochrome image. The horizon is marked by the shore of the Amazon river, but the boundary is messy, fungible, difficult to discern because of the reflection (and the sort of intentionally not fabulous framing). It gives the impression of a landscape that cannot be contained by the mere act of photography; the technology is insufficient to communicate the nature of... nature.
