So, what's the difference? APIs are about endpoints; SDKs are a full dev package. APIs mean raw HTTP calls; SDKs offer pre-built functions. But that's just scratching the surface...

Top Programming Languages for SDK Development in 2025 | Generate SDKs for your API with liblab
Drive SDK adoption in 2025 by selecting the right programming languages. This guide emphasizes tailoring your SDKs to your target developers' ecosystems. We explore the strengths of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java/Kotlin, C#, and Go for SDK development, their key industries, and how to simplify multi-language support with solutions like liblab.

liblab.com @liblab.com · 16/05/2025
Ultimately, well-designed SDKs are the main connection between your API and the developers using it. Prioritize their needs to foster a strong community and drive API platform success.

liblab.com @liblab.com · 16/05/2025
An SDK in Python is great for data scientists, but what if your audience is primarily .NET developers building for Azure? Or Android devs who prefer Kotlin or React Native? Audience dictates necessity.
100
liblab.com @liblab.com · 16/05/2025
Why? Because developers adopt tools that feel natural and reduce friction. An SDK in an unfamiliar language or one that clashes with their current stack is a barrier, not a bridge.
100
liblab.com @liblab.com · 16/05/2025
It's not just about chasing popular languages. The number one rule: Know your target developers. Deeply understand their ecosystems and workflows before you pick any language.

liblab.com @liblab.com · 16/05/2025
Thinking about SDKs for your API? The languages you choose are crucial for adoption and a great developer experience. But what's the most important factor?

liblab.com @liblab.com · 16/05/2025
Community feedback drives innovation. At liblab, developer insights refine our SDK generation platform, ensuring it meets real needs. Your input helps us build better tools, empowering seamless API integration for everyone. Let's grow together!

Pro-tip: Let users sort and filter the data coming from your API. Doing so can greatly decrease the amount of requests users need to send to get the data they need. You save bandwidth and they save latency. Win win!
000
liblab.com @liblab.com · 14/05/2025
The flip side of that is when an API returns too little. Does common data retrieval take more than one query? If so make an endpoint for it!
000
liblab.com @liblab.com · 14/05/2025
One of the best things to consider when making a solid API is separation of concerns. Does your endpoint do more than one thing? If so make it two endpoints.
100
liblab.com @liblab.com · 13/05/2025
APIs that lack versioning limit evolution. Even if your v1 is at /api/endpoint(s) that doesn't mean your v2 can't be at /api/v2/endpoint(s).

APIs & SDKs should focus on meeting customer needs rather than exposing your product's backend. APIs that mirror your internal database are often challenging for end users. Our DevRel Engineer, Anthony Lusardi, will be at API Days NYC this week to give a talk on this issue.

Don't reinvent the wheel. Standards like pagination and filtering are the way they are because they work well, developers are familiar with them, and tooling is already built to handle them.

Designing Fault Tolerant SDKs: Best Practices and Common Pitfalls | Generate SDKs for your API with liblab
Don't let real-world hiccups like API timeouts, network glitches, or server errors crash your users' apps. While functionality is key, true SDK excellence lies in resilience. Discover how to move beyond basic functionality and master fault tolerance.
000
liblab.com @liblab.com · 09/05/2025
Best Practices: - Handle transient errors smartly by having retry logic with backoff. - Provide clear, actionable error messages. - Ensure your SDK tolerates unexpected fields, and all optional fields are marked properly.

liblab.com @liblab.com · 09/05/2025
Pitfalls in SDK Design: - No retry logic turns transient errors into hard failures. - Silent failures and generic errors hamper developer debugging. - Tightly coupled API responses break SDKs with minor API changes.

Building SDKs that stand up to real-world issues means focusing on fault tolerance. Don't let API timeouts, network glitches, or server errors crash user apps. Here's some pitfalls to avoid and best practices to follow 👇

Unlock faster innovation cycles. When your API changes, ensure your SDKs across all supported languages are updated instantly, not weeks later. Automation makes this possible.

Extra tip: pattern can be used within an OpenAPI spec to define a regex for validation
000
liblab.com @liblab.com · 07/05/2025
Precision matters in your OpenAPI spec! Be explicit with string formats (date-time, password, uuid, uri, email). The format modifier is open so you can define your own format names and tooling can later use those format names for validation.

Think API docs are enough? Without an SDK, developers face a checklist: HTTP config, auth flows, serialization, error handling... just to make their first call.
000
liblab.com @liblab.com · 05/05/2025
Launching an API without an SDK? You're not saving effort, you're just pushing the burden of building and maintaining a client library onto every single one of your users.
000
liblab.com @liblab.com · 04/05/2025
Stop the SDK maintenance grind! Use your OpenAPI spec as the single source of truth to generate consistent, high-quality SDKs automatically. Free up engineers for core API work.
000
liblab.com @liblab.com · 03/05/2025
The "no official SDK" tax: Every user team duplicates effort, creating slightly different, potentially buggy client implementations. Centralize this work for quality & consistency.

Testing and Debugging SDKs with Proxyman | Generate SDKs for your API with liblab
Bugs can exist in many layers between your API layer and final SDK integration in client applications. Learn how to debug your SDKs and API stack with ease.

Situation 3: Bad network conditions Solution: Throttle bandwidth or inject latency for requests to the API. This allows testing SDK behavior, timeout configurations, and perceived performance under adverse network conditions.
100
liblab.com @liblab.com · 02/05/2025
Situation 2: Error and Edge cases that are rarely returned by the API. Solution: Simulating Specific Data Payloads. Useful for testing SDK logic against edge-case data structures, values, or errors defined in the API contract but hard to trigger from the live API consistently.
100
liblab.com @liblab.com · 02/05/2025
Situation 1: Live debugging is limited by authentication, access, or cost restrictions. Solution: Response Mocking via Local Mapping. A proxy can intercept an outgoing SDK request and substitute the actual server error with a predefined local response (e.g., 200 OK + mock data).
