Hegseth says, "Civilian academic norms dilute our focus on lethality." I don’t know of any studies indicating that officers who joined the military after ROTC are any less “lethal” than those who attended service academies.

Will he end ROTC at colleges across the country? Cadet or midshipman military classes and drill periods are led by active duty officers and enlisted personnel. Otherwise the prospective officers are in regular college courses with civilian classmates and professors.

Reagan sold arms to Iran. He covertly funded the Nicaraguan Contras in defiance of laws passed specifically outlawing such funding. He should have gone to prison, but Bill Barr and George Bush, Sr swept it all under the rug. Reagan raised taxes. Multiple times. Somehow R’s made him a saint.

The Auburn Board of Trustees dissolved the Faculty Senate this year. I’m pretty much done with the university since everything is politicized now and I don’t see it turning around anytime soon in Alabama.

Posted 9 months ago Tommy Tuberville was a good coach at Auburn, with an undefeated 2004 team that should have been national champs. Still, I am embarrassed that he is affiliated with my alma mater. He was an Auburn employee, not educated there.

I flew in and out of DCA many, many times over a 33-year career as an airline pilot. I can confidently say that no one ever heard me refer to that airport as Reagan. Petty? Maybe, but the name is an affront to the air traffic controllers that Reagan fired and, by extension to laborers of all types.

Swalwell is gone. Toast. Boebert is still there. The GOP is supporting Max Miller’s reelection campaign. McConnell occupies a position with no capacity to execute. Johnson recessed Congress multiple times to avoid votes. Both parties may be addicted to big money, but they are not “the same.”

It’s important to note the bias, disinformation, racism and propaganda disseminated by Ellison, Weiss and CBS, but I certainly don’t have to consume their product. We may agree on the direction the party should go. I want FDR Dems, not Republican-lite. I believe that now, with primaries over, Dems of all stripes should coalesce around checking this administration. The internecine battles come after the general, not before. You may feel differently. It’s ok.

Bolton deserved no sympathy after refusing to testify in the 2019 impeachment inquiry. He opted to publish his story in a book. Democrats didn’t pursue contempt charges. That was a mistake made 7 years ago. With 11 weeks until midterms, the focus should be on electing D’s, not political purity.
