Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 21/11/2024These posts appeared together in my feed & they speak to me. Human rights are interconnected. Biden & “left Zionists” confuse it, but we cannot ignore rampant anti-Palestinian bigotry & expect rampant anti-trans bigotry not to grow stronger. Supremacist ideologies are always deadly & sadistic. 100
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Only the middle one is wrong. Netanyahu has never been defence minister, but he was the one who provided the seed funding for Hamas. The thing about Palestinians is that being multi-religious is a national identity, so fighting a Holy War against them is hard…until an Islamic wing came into money. 000
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 19/11/2024Who else makes a point of cursing Joe Biden every single day? Been over a year now. 140
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 19/11/2024From Writers Against the War on Gaza (Twitter) @wawog.bsky.social AUTHORS PICKET THE 2024 GILLER PRIZE While Giller organizers & corporate sponsors have cocktails inside, writers have formed a picket line outside the Prize's ceremony. They are amongst the 200+ authors and bookworkers boycotting… 000
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 18/11/2024Still get a chuckle out of this introduction passing peer review 😅 020
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 17/11/2024On RFK and Trump and the humiliation rituals of white people and believing what we are told to about colonialism. 000
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 17/11/2024When “progressive democrats” are so committed to a shockingly brutal colonial genocide that might be part of why they seems a little irrelevant, no? This is what neoliberalism incubates. 100
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 17/11/2024Cried while doing a reading at a Palestine fundraiser last night. So as someone with recent experience of public tears, these two observations from the article resonate: —as we grow older we cry more for others than ourselves… 💔 —we cry out of a sense of hopelessness… 💔 010
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 17/11/2024BTW 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸—THEY RAISED $4k—🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸 And shout out to the many who, now that I think of it, also encouraged me to finish. Bit if a blur. 110
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 17/11/2024I love a cry, but I was annoyed with myself in this case in those circumstances because it distracts from the point. But as people came to talk to me after, I realised we have been shedding many private tears & my public tears were received by some almost as a relief. 110
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 17/11/2024I knew crying was a risk for that piece, knew my high-risk spots, got through them then faulted later. So, as a recent highly public crier, these two observations from the article resonate today: —as we grow older we cry more for others than ourselves… 💔 —we cry out of a sense of hopelessness… 💔 110
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 16/11/2024What two things are the same? Denying vaccines work and denying that Israel is committing USA-sponsored genocide. The evidence for both is overwhelming & there is clear consensus. Thank you to Nimer Sultany (who I don’t think is in bsky) for this research summary. x.com/nimersultany... 010
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 16/11/2024If your favourite news outlet didn’t report this, then your “news” might actually be propaganda. 051
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 15/11/2024Any nation committing genocide and apartheid has to really nurture sadism. If anyone wants to know what the colonisers of the USA and Australian and Canada sounded like, listen to Israelis today. The whole “they didn’t know better” line is a manufactured story to get them off the hook. 000
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 15/11/2024The part unethical Dems will focus on: “See what voting for him will do for Gaza!” Everyone with half an ethic: “Biden has no restriction on weapons.” Public servants literally resigned over this, people! 100
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 15/11/2024For obvious reasons, journalists in Gaza aren’t coming over, but their work and to witness is important to me ….#Gaza 000
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 15/11/2024When your ethics are about <who> is doing the war crimes not <what> war crimes are being committed… 000
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 14/11/2024The UN vote on Palestine and how on neoliberalism apartheid and genocide are “meh” when it’s Biden and “boo” when it’s Trump. It is all who is doing it and not what is being done. All these countries suddenly voting yes on sovereignty now that Trump is in and Biden is out. 010
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 14/11/2024Neoliberalism is when apartheid and genocide are “meh” when it’s Biden and “boo” when it’s Trump. It’s all about who is doing it, not what they’re doing. 021
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 14/11/2024For me, these two posts represent the reason for Trump 2.0. 100
Libby King @libbyking.bsky.social · 14/11/2024Neoliberalism will tell you that the person committing genocide is what makes it good/bad, rather than act of genocide itself. Twisted and illogical ethics. 000
