Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I'm really not sure how it's October. Has anyone checked the spacetime continuum lately? Maybe smack it like a jukebox to make sure it's ok? Something feels off is all I'm sayin. 1140

Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Hoorayyyy! So excited for y'all! Charlie @shikokuchuo.net is the BEST! 130
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It must feel MAGICAL to see folks mention your packages in the wild!! I just reviewed ggblend and I am in love. More people need to know!! 010
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I was just gonna ask, que es patterns?! I was feeling some fomo 😂 030
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I still haven't tried uvr! I need to. And trelliscope is new to me, I'll google 👀 010
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 04/10/2026You're not slow! I still forget to use it a lot when it would definitely be helpful 100
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 04/10/2026What!! Two more packages I've not explored yet! Gonna have to look up scico and ggblend 🕵️ 010
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 04/10/2026duckdb is my next goal because it's the one I haven't used myself in practice and I knowwww I'm missing out 010
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 04/10/2026New FOMO unlocked 😮💨 I have only heard of it, don't know what it is! 120
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 04/10/2026What other transformative #rstats #python etc packages and stuff have you embraced the last few years? 11323
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Heck yeah, I was feeling the parquet FOMO before this, for real 😅 010
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The pre-argument-dots help prevent namespace collisions with closures and other possible named arguments that could come through "..." args, as far as I know! There is LOTS of info in this thread, I like it: forum.posit.co/t/meaning-of...forum.posit.coMeaning of dot (".") in front of certain arguments in the Tidyverse referenceI'm very fussy about ensuring I understand how to read a reference manual correctly. So, sorry if this is something that's general knowledge, but I'd like clarification on this. Why is there a dot (... 1120
Reposted by Libby HeerenDax Kellie @daxkellie.bsky.social · 02/10/2026This thread is so great! 🤩 To avoid annoying resizing, figured I'd mention an alternative to {ggview}: {showtext} can resize all text to a specific dpi Text is the part that I find I have to fiddle with most when saving #ggplot2 plots, so this usually works for me 😀 #rstats #dataviz 2376
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Wonderful, thank you so much for sharing!! I spent so long in Small Data Land that I never needed to know parquet existed 😂 But, once I found out about it, I realized I worked some specific jobs that would have MASSIVELY benefited from it. Positron's data explorer just displaying the files was 🤯 240
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Yes! I liked chapter 4 on file formats in the video 😍 130
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Nic ( @niccrane.bsky.social) taught us all about FREAKING PARQUET FILES on the #DSLab, which are wayyyyy cooler than I realized. Parquet files: Preserve data types Are fast & small Are column-oriented so you can read just 1 col if wanted! & Positron displays'em out-the-box! ▶️ youtu.be/2mQ4kc9J9uQyoutu.beWhat is a Parquet file anyway? Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I've not been able to listen to a tech or data podcast in a long time. I'm so over saturated. I now listen to totally silly fiction podcasts only, like We Fix Space Junk, and Starship Iris 🙈 while I heal (healing is... slow and ongoing 🥴) 020
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Mine has 100% been on a schedule. When she was teeny in there, it wasn't so noticeable, but now that she is huge, 5:15am and 9:15pm are VERY noticeable 😮💨😮💨😮💨 I hope all is well with y'all!! 100
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Can't wait for when it's cats, appliances, husband, and baby all at once 🙃 010
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Anyone else's house experience The Witching Hour? In which all animals and humans and appliances go wild at the same time? Overstimulated is not a strong enough word. I need a much punchier one. 230
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 28/09/2026"dramatic exit strategy" cracked me up 😂 #rstats #baseRgirlie 020
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 27/09/2026It's funny because I've never in my life worried about it before, yet I was so turnt that the variable was RIGHT THERE in realtime and they chose to display the other one twice 💀 I guess we'll see if my obsession continues hahaha 010
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 27/09/2026They advertise the app specifically as a way to check your fridge and freezer's current temperature from afar, though, which is not what you can actually do 😂 The instructional video literally says, "you can view your fridge's current temperature from across town." 100
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 27/09/2026The worst part is that my husband was like, "I don't get it," and then I had to reenact the scene, playing both parts, tapping my imaginary helmet, and he still didn't get it, and then I had to find him a YouTube video. He's getting old and forgetful 😂 010
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 27/09/2026(Yes, I named the fridge TK-421. If you saw her, you'd understand.) 270
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Samsung... why you like dis? Why only display the "set" or target temp (twice) instead of the actual measured temp, which you DO have a json variable for, which I can clearly see in the advance web app browser version of your dumb app 😂 Where do I file a GitHub issue?? @sumsung.bsky.social 5130
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I did have to pull the fridge back out after the delivery guys left. The water dispenser was like trickling water, & sure enough, there was a kink in the (way too long!) water line. They told us to drain 3 gallons of water to clear out the filter before using the water, & to get rid of the 1st ice! 110
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 26/09/2026We did a lot of cleaning up today 🥴😂 but we got it all handled!! 110
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Husband and I have been together 20 years next month, and we've never - not once - had a fridge with an ice maker in it. Today, we say goodbye to a trusty old fridge and we get a new one. Now taking bets on how soon our brand new appliance breaks 😂 Also, the water line behind our fridge exploded 🫡 2210
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 25/09/2026The last tiny bit of a Mac OS update is always such a tease. It looks small. It says 5 minutes. But then those 5 minutes last forever, and my next meeting is staring me down on the calendar while I reconsider my life choices. 0171
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 22/09/2026The amazing things people create & contribute never cease to amaze me & lift me up inside, & I'm so dang proud of all the freaking sweet open source tools we make 😭 I feel like we're all on an emotional rollercoaster all caught up in identity & anxiety & excitement & fear. Just glad we're together. 020
Libby Heeren @libbyheeren.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I've benefitted sooo much over the years from being a silent visitor on both! And researchgate, too. 000
