Thank you so much to the residents of Abbey ward for re-electing John and Klaar, and for electing Barry to join them on Merton Council.

All we need to update from four years ago is the election date. Vote for the team that's committed to serving South Wimbledon for the long-term.

Out delivering the leaflet introducing our election candidates. Did you know, the original Merton Place was the house owned here by Lord Nelson from 1801-1805?

Our South Wimbledon step-free access petition, backed by over 1,000 signatures, was delivered to City Hall today by Cllr Klaar Dresselaers and Barry Smith and presented to the London Assembly by Hina Bokhari OBE, seen here alongside Gareth Roberts AM. Fingers crossed for a positive response.

Disappointing that Merton's Labour Council will not even take free money from the government to help electric vehicle owners charge their cars cheaply from their home electricity supply.

🔶 South Wimbledon (Abbey Ward) LibDems 🔶 @libabbey.bsky.social · 01/11/2025

Hard to believe that 10 years ago we had only one councillor in Merton and were a distant 3rd in the Wimbledon constituency. Now we have 17 councillors and Wimbledon's MP and we're campaigning to take control of the council next May. Merton is turning orange!

TfL's own study on step-free access for the Northern Line rated South Wimbledon as the easiest to install a lift at, and recommended it be taken forward for a full feasibility study, yet they are not doing so. Sign our petition asking them to reconsider. www.mertonlibdems.org.uk/our-campaign...

We are shocked to hear of this incident of racist abuse against a local business in connection with the flags put up on Quicks Road. We call upon Labour's @cllrneaverson.bsky.social to rethink his decision to allow these flags to remain.

Streets are supposed to be swept after bin collections but three days later Grove Road still looks like this. Merton Council needs to get a grip on street sweeping.

🔶 South Wimbledon (Abbey Ward) LibDems 🔶 @libabbey.bsky.social · 16/09/2025

Community pride should unite, not divide us, but flags put up in secret at night are about intimidation, not celebration. Merton Council needs to remove the Quicks Road flags without further delay.

Did you know environmentalism is at the very heart of the LibDems' Constitution? The second sentence, right after our commitment to liberalism, is a commitment to protecting the environment.

South Wimbledon c. 1893. Much of the ward south of Kingston Road/Merton High Street was still to be developed, and the Abbey Mills are still present on the area of Abbey Road to Mill Road today. Merton Abbey station and the railway line - now Merantun Way - can also be seen.

Many companies now offer solutions for on-street electric car charging from home power supplies. But, despite promises two years ago to begin trials, Merton council has still taken no action on this. When will we finally see some real support for EV owners from Merton Council?
