Stupid from Burnham with those Man City comments. Completely needless and an own goal. He's not the mayor of Manchester anymore. Yes he's got the wider UAE relationship to consider, but he could have batted it away completely by saying "It would be wrong for me to get involved" and that's it.

These fair questions, but a little short sighted. The poorest pensioners should be given enough to live on. Agreed. However, the reality is many home owning pensioners are getting private pensions and the benefit of triple lock. How is that fair to mine and younger generations who are paying for it?

Many of those who won't own property, as it's too expensive. Won't receive a state pension or at best will receive a significantly reduced amount as there won't be enough public funds.

70% have the benefit of a private pension. Not a question of picking on the vulnerable. Of course those simply relying solely on state pension should receive additional support. Irrespective of raising additional funds from "tax dodgers" that still doesn't address the issue for future pensioners.

Vast majority will have their private pensions to supplement it, plus their houses (which they picked up 40 years ago for a few grand) paid off. £800 is £800 more state pension than someone in 20/30s will be getting.

Good. Some boomers will whinge, but most know it's not sustainable. It's the younger working generations who are bankrolling it - the ones who already know they probably won't have a state pension when they get to retirement. It's so unfair.

Not excusing City. Rules are the rules. But it seems if their takeover had happened at the time Abramovich came in, they probably wouldn't be in this bother. Point more being about how Chelsea were beneficiaries of the time Roman came in. They also broke rules in the 10s, but got away with a fine.

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
There is some sympathy with City. When Abramovich came in, Chelsea were given carte blanche to do what they wanted in terms of spending. City broke the rules which would help them do what Chelsea had been allowed to do years earlier. Chelsea have done pretty well from PL with little repercussions.

The Burnley v Everton financial ruling will have huge implications on this City outcome. Burnley were successful with their claim against Everton (now being appealed). Over the years, how many clubs could argue they missed out on CL revenue because of City's misdemeanors. Pandora's box.

After that Coventry result, you know what you need to do tomorrow, Fulham. Spurs bottom going into the (long) international break after spending 1/3 of a billion will be glorious 😂

We are a bit of a sucker for losing an early season game at home against a promoted side in the Premier League. I can think of numerous examples:- Norwich City Luton Town QPR Sheffield United Newcastle United Hoping tomorrow we don't add to that statistic. Win and it's a solid start.

Pickford AMN Tarkowski Branthwaite Myko Garner Hackney KDH Grealish George Barry Even though Dibling did well v Wolves, can't see him starting. Probably feature though.

Been through it myself recently, I feel for Burnham losing his dad. Out of all the words of sympathy today, it was surprisingly Badenoch which struck chord "A part of your life that has always been there is suddenly gone forever and it can feel as though a part of you won't ever be the same again."

With the exception of the first 15, I thought we were the better side and had the best chances. Decent point, but could have been more. Less said about Pickford's kicking there, the better.... #efc #everton

Baffled to see some United fans claim that challenge from Tarkowski where he won the ball brilliantly from Cunha merited a penalty??? Yes from behind but it was timed perfectly, makes contact with the ball before there was any contact on player.

Thought that was KDH worst game for us yesterday. Wasteful and caught on his heels at times. He's set high standards in terms of what we know he can deliver, just needs to be more consistent. Hopefully we see the best version of him at Spurs.

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
We are going to have to rely on midfielders and defenders to chip in with goals this season. Barry looked brilliant against Preston reserves, but I've not seen any improvement from him against PL defenders.
000
Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Hackney looks a player. Very assured. Him and Armstrong have big futures ahead of them.
000
Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Looked bit weak defensively down our right side. I'd bring Maitland-Niles on for Johnson and move Rohl up. Rohl has pace and looks more of a threat offensively

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
Barry is terrible and he's now our only striker. Beto wasn't great, but at least the load could be shared between the two of them. The fact the club has allowed this to happen is pure negligence. There should be a club statement this morning and resignations should follow.

22:10. We have received 80-90 million in fees today. We have spent £0. Possible £4m on right back. Loan for Grealish likely. Zirkzee just been announced a non-starter. Balogun a doubt. Great effort lads #Everton

The guy is a charlatan. Mate who's a Leeds United fan messaged me about Angus Kinnear and how bad he was at Leeds. Tells there was a deadline day under him where club tweeted - ‘don’t go to bed just yet 👀’ ....and then Leeds signed nobody 😂😂😂

That is absolutely scandalous from the club. I get a players fail medicals, and it's better these things are picked up during examinations...but to allow one of our two main strikers leave the club hours earlier and leave us this exposed is incompetence of highest level. #everton

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Selling Beto only for Balogun to fail his medical. Fucking Everton aren't we. 😂😂😂
010
Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Whilst other clubs manage to showcase and/or confirm signings during deadline day, you can always rely on Everton to drag it out. It's standard practice having to wait until you wake in the morning to see who has joined and who hasn't.

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Think it'll be Johnson, Dibling and Rohl vying for that position. Can't see us making any moves for RW, but you never know.

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
For the money and flexibility of the player, I'm pretty happy with this deal. Whilst he will be predominantly played at RB, he offers cover at LB if needed. Would mean Rohl or Garner cover RB in that scenario. Premier league experienced. It's a decent deal.

Spurs transfer strategy appears very scattergun. After failing to secure Ndiaye, they switched their attention to Mudryk as an alternative - who is a completely different type of player.
000
Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
A little better than the Spurs deal, but still seems way off considering other transfers this window. I'm assuming the club needed the money and it was Armstrong or Ndiaye situation. I think for the long term, keeping Armstrong is more important. I think George has shown he can replace Ndiaye.

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
Owners come out with all sorts of shit... Southampton were looking for 100m for Dibling as an example. Fact is Rooney wanted out, said he would have joined Newcastle if Man United hadn't come in for him. We still got a World record fee for a teenager who didn't want to play for us anymore.
000
Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
I mean it was a world record fee for a teenager at the time. Could we have gotten more, probably, but it's not in same league as incompetence as this purported Ndiaye sale.

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
Kenwright for all his flaws (and he had a few) would have negotiated a better sale of Ndiaye than Kinnear/club. Absolutely woeful

Dibling looked very bright. A very composed first half from the blues. 💙
000
Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
I like him, but I don't think we need him. Both Ndiaye and George are better options off the left. He's not getting a game centrally. If we're in for that type of 'luxury' player, I think Rashford on loan would make more sense.
000
Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 25/08/2026
There is a lad who plays for Sociedad, Icelandic kid, Orri Oskarsson. Seen him a few times. Only 21. Over 6 foot, holds up the ball well and is quick. Genuinely think he has all the attributes to play in PL. 9 in 20 in La Liga last season and still only young. That's the profile we should consider
010
Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 24/08/2026
The reality is we probably need to sell someone. As much as I don't like this news, he's probably the most logical one. Sooner lose him than Ndiaye, Garner, Branthwaite being the ones who could attract decent fees. O'Brien probably gets us 20-30m?

We would have to pay him £310,000 a week so he would be netting what he's going to be on in Turkey. I think at this stage in his career, he's just about earning as much as he can before riding off into the sunset.

Went to watch Salford v Shrewsbury today. Match went to penalties after 1-1 in normal time. NINE penalties missed between the two sides. Even at that level of football, absolutely baffles me how professional footballers can take such poor penalties. Kids loved the drama though.

Fairs. Agreed, right back has to be main priority. I think wings and budget will be dictated by Ndiaye staying or leaving. If he stays I think we get maybe one on loan. Difficult with financial restrictions - it's like 00s again.

Liam Appleby @liamappleby.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
I think it's a very sensible signing. Experienced premier league player. Good stats. Decent replacement for Idrissa. Think we probably need another like minded player on loan though, as injuries in that area could leave us short. However, there are positions which require more pressing attention

Absolutely wild the Premier League wrote a supportive letter for Chelsea not to be docked any points saying "points deductions should only be imposed in the most serious circumstances..." With FIFA and Premier League antics, I don't think I've ever been as disillusioned with the modern game. Corrupt
