A week ago at Dragoncon I met Richard Garriott at a panel about his new Ultima game. Long story short he wants to use AI. He already has for concept art and ChatGPT generated fantasy language. I wrote an account with the hope that this could spread to the right people. Please pass this along.

fwiw I don't think he did it to rope in Xbox, either. The deal was already announced and inked before he made the tweet.

I'm re-reading the tweet in Japanese and I'm really not seeing what you're seeing- it's very neutral language imo with an expression of surprise. If you can also read Japanese, I'd be interested to hear which bit you find conveys a personal offense!

Eh, I shouldn't make assumptions either way but given MS got them I feel like it wasn't off the table. PS had em for DS2 on console and PC too, and Xbox had em for OD on Cconsole and PC.

Liam Allen-Miller @liamallenmiller.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I think he's referring to the tweet on Kojima's account about how they were surprised to learn that Sony was parting ways. tbf I think it did sound like KojiPro had no idea leading into it.

Liam Allen-Miller @liamallenmiller.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

I forgot this, but also probably nothing was stopping Sony from acquiring the PC publishing rights other than their own change in direction seemingly barring PC ports of their SP games across the business. I think they’re kind of tripping over their own feet in this situation.

Liam Allen-Miller @liamallenmiller.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Ultimately where I’m coming from is that Sony has an unbelievable amount of cash right now, and I don’t feel like Physint needed to be an either/or question alongside their other planned investments. I just think it’s a loss for PlayStation, but hey.

3130 0

Liam Allen-Miller @liamallenmiller.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Fwiw I agree that it wouldn’t move PS5s much- it’s still in early dev so it would likely only ship during PS6, anyways.

220 0

Liam Allen-Miller @liamallenmiller.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

I didn’t say “almost certainly commercially viable”, I said it was “almost certainly guaranteed to do well”! I have a hard time imagining a successor to MGS that’s even just like, pretty good, doing less that 4-5m pretty fast based on current market.

120 0

Liam Allen-Miller @liamallenmiller.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Where I'm coming from is really just that both Sony and PlayStation are at the absolute apex of their all-time profitablility. From that perspective I find it hard to accept that a project with a legacy creator that is almost certainly guaranteed to do well critically and commercially is a bad idea.

120 0

Liam Allen-Miller @liamallenmiller.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

I don't disagree- on the other hand Death Stranding was almost certainly quite profitable overall and I don't feel that Sony is misisng out big on opportunity cost with money invested in Kojima Productions. If they cancel that expediture, where is a new investment that's guaranteed to be better?

130 0

Liam Allen-Miller @liamallenmiller.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

Yeah. Same honestly. UD2 and Interstellar interest me, the others… I’ll rent ‘em from the library later on. I have no doubt a few teams have been hard at work on interesting PS6 stuff, but it’s very hard to imagine it from here. Even more so alongside the whole no disc thing. :/

Also this was the first time I preordered a CERO Z game at my local store and I was laughing at how they conceal the cover even behind the counter. Is this standard???

Package version of Onimusha in Japan has a nice reversible cover and the barest of manuals! Kind of nice considering how many games now have nothing and a white inner cover.

Please be vocal about not using AI. We have to normalize it. No "I'm not going to say that because it should be assumed. I'm not going to give them this". We don't have time for that shit ideological shit right now. NOW is the time to capitalize on waning favorability. Ppl want human made

Seven hours and an extended co-op session with a friend behind me- it's my favourite SP Splatoon since Octo Expansion. The RPG elements in particular are very well considered and avoid being overwhelming. One of the best S2 games around, I think!
