Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026Also I just checked and there are some parcel locker services in the USA already mostly in bigger cities, which isn't that different from how it is done here 010
Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026anyway I only thought about this topic because I saw some ring doorbell recordings of people stealing packages, I'm glad to hear that's not as common as these made me think lol and of course having the package waiting for you at the doorstep is way more convenient than having to go anywhere 210
Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026which obviously is kinda worse than just leaving the package at the doorstep lol you can usually still at least redirect the delivery to your neighbors though 110
Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026usually the second delivery attempt happens only in some companies because leaving the packages at these pick-up points became the default if that's not available you do get a chance to still get the package on the second attempt, but if that fails the package might just get sent back to the sender 110
Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026How this is handled (in poland at least, though it is similar in other countries from what I've seen) is that other delivery companies drop the packages at pickup points, which are usually convenience stores or supermarkets, so they don't actually keep the packages in their warehouses 210
Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026I know this would be difficult to implement in the USA but still, this issue has many different solutions 020
Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026In poland there are also parcel lockers on almost every street, so people usually order everything from online stores to the lockers there's almost no one who prefers waiting for a courier over just taking a 2 minute walk to the locker, where you just take the package yourself in 10 seconds 120
Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026I understand that sometimes leaving a package at the doorstep could be desirable, but why is it just not optional? 110
Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/06/2026I don't understand the concept of porch pirates in the USA, why do couriers leave packages at the doorstep? In europe if you aren't home when the courier comes, the package just goes to the nearest post office/pick-up point and you either just walk there or you wait for the second delivery attempt 220

Lia @liacake.bsky.social · 16/03/2026do americans always talk about salary as earning X money per year is that more practical than saying monthly wage it's not like people get paid once a year.. I don't get it 031
