Lance Haig @lhaig.haigmail.com · 26/09/2026All my profiles now say the same thing. LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon, GitHub, GitLab and here. Next on my list is getting Nectvia pages to show a proper preview when you share them. Right now LinkedIn cannot find anything to show. 000
Lance Haig @lhaig.haigmail.com · 26/09/2026I spent some time yesterday updating my profiles. Most of them still had me at StrongDM or Docker. I had to change each one by hand. LinkedIn, Nectvia, here, Mastodon, GitHub and GitLab. That is why I am building nectvia.work. Your profile should live in one place that you own. 100

Lance Haig @lhaig.haigmail.com · 07/09/2026They clearly have not worked for a large software company with codebases over 10 years old where there are parts that no one understands or is willing to touch and the lack of comments makes it impossible to figure out. The code documents itself brigade have not had to go back 6 years and fix a bug 100
Lance Haig @lhaig.haigmail.com · 07/09/2026I have learnt new skills and been able to help others so much more. Many of the things I am learning now are more around project structure, technology interfaces and how clear specifications help improve code quality. Many say there is code bloat and no one will understand the code anymore. 100
Lance Haig @lhaig.haigmail.com · 07/09/2026I applaud your eagerness to experiment and have fun. I am also doing this and finding out how each of the ideas I have had over the years look when actually built. You should not feel bad and I am sorry for the way things have gone. I also had to adjust so that I could keep paying bills. 100

Lance Haig @lhaig.haigmail.com · 29/06/2026@ec.europa.eu I don't think LInkedIn is complying with the spirit of the Data portability requirements. I cant get all my data from their zip download functionality as they "allow you to view your media only still on linked in" 100
