J.D. Vance May Be Unprincipled, But He Is Smart and Slick
For most of the night, Walz could only barely keep up with him.

People keep saying JD Vance is smart. Even liberal pundits say this. Sorry, but I just don’t see it.

Elon Musk is not an engineer. His most substantial technological achievement is making part of a website. He is not an engineer. He is a salesman.

I’m eagerly awaiting an article about which state leads in the number of arrests _of_ ICE

This is seriously unhinged. And on multiple levels. And don’t forget, the American voters asked for this twice.

Truth is truth. Flexibility is just not relevant here.

If my house is on fire, two things are true: the ashes will get the furniture dirty and the flames will burn the entire house down. Yep, both are true.

If not for voter support, he would be impeached

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
But he’s not unilaterally in charge of anything. Republican senators, cabinet members, they only do what he says because if they don’t the voters will punish them. Virtually no Republican can win a primary against Trump because of the voters. That’s the part you’re not getting.

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The media, maybe. His party, sure. But more than everyone else: the voters. Trump is a symptom. The root cause needs to be addressed because a Trump presidency is not a one-off fluke.

It makes a lot of sense if you realize the voters asked for this, twice. A senile old man that does crazy things is not the story here. The story is a country that freely and knowingly elected him. And yes, twice.

I honestly can’t imagine a better approach to how published, open source, LLM-written code should be handled. The justification is declared clearly: this would not exist if not for LLM. The disclaimers are stated plainly and obviously. And it faces the reality of the world we live in honestly. 👏🏽

Are you just trolling now? Google does indeed have detailed maps of more than just major cities. Or maybe you don’t realize that Google and Waymo are both part of Alphabet? But clearly something is missing from your understanding.

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
You clearly didn’t read what you’re replying to (see the part about Waymo) bsky.app/profile/lgua...

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Really? This is your argument? So you assume autonomous technology is just forever frozen in time? Seriously? Not gonna extrapolate at all? And exactly why do you think Alphabet is incapable of detailed mapping at scale? It’s almost like you’re totally unaware of what Google has done for decades.

This thread is in response to the quote "We shouldn't have let the phone company buy all the taxi companies." You can discuss public transit all you like, but I have no idea why you’d do so in response to my post. Does Waymo solve public transit? Nope. Does it solve the housing crisis? Also nope.

Lastly, your clumsy attempt to invoke a concept like theory of mind is simultaneously pretentious, ham fisted, and awkwardly forced. You come across like a third-tier liberal arts grad student that can’t quite accurately regurgitate some sophomoric idea you recently discovered.

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The irony of your argument is stunning, though. You laud the concept of paying in cash as though it was some universal virtue. I assure you it is not. I never claimed my preferences were universal, yet you seem to have no qualms about espousing your own preferences as unquestionably valuable.

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It’s undeniable that the market has demonstrated the overwhelming preference for the rideshare model (in stark opposition to the failing, antiquated taxi model). This is not just my opinion.

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It’s amazing to me the lengths people will go to defend an imagined underdog. Why on Earth anyone would think taxi cab companies are some kind of heroic organization is just baffling to me.
110
L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Umm what? The root issue is the taxi cab experience is awful. Waymo addresses that nicely. And I have zero reason to believe your claims about scaling. Lastly, I doubt the traditional taxi cab companies do not retain data about their customers. So you can imagine taxi cabs are great, but they aren’t

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Why do you think any business runs at a loss? Hint: because revenue is less than expenses. What governs revenue? Hint: prices. Ride shares ran at a loss because they set lower prices Oh, and taxis do still exist. I know you want to be angry. But you have obviously not thought through your beliefs.

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Ok Nostradamus, whatever you say. In the meantime, you’re free to ride in that Yellow Cab.
000
L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Undercutting your competitors on pricing is not anti-competitive. But you know what would be? Artificially forcing a superior product or service to raise prices for the benefit of failing competitors, thereby putting the burden of that failing business on the consumers.
100
L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
I can assure you, the investors’ priority is to make their investments profitable. By your rationale, any business with even a single competitor must be profitable immediately, because investment in a currently unprofitable business is somehow unethical. See how ridiculous that is?
100
L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
You can’t seriously believe that ride share companies have some moral obligation to set their prices to ensure their competitors stay competitive with a vastly inferior service. But feel free to enact your own moral code by donating to Yellow Cab. I’ll wait.

I’ve made no refutation. You, of course, are free to infer whatever you’d like.
000
L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
You (1) have clearly never ridden in an actual taxi cab and are not aware of what that was all about, and (2) have no idea what a Waymo is
000
L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Have you been in a Waymo? Seems like maybe you haven’t.
001
L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Sorry, but if you’ve ever ridden in an actual taxi cab pre ride sharing, and then rode in a Lyft or Uber, and then rode in a Waymo, you know that trajectory has been significant quality and experience improvement. It’s just a fact. You can hate Big Tech if you want, but let’s not say silly things

Those, like Vance, that believe heritage bestows some extra claim to American citizenship are the ones that should get the hell out of America. There are few things more antithetical to the US Constitution than the idea that ancestry should grant privilege. They miss the entire point.

And people want these morons to decide how to handle AI? They don’t have the mental capacity to understand the technology of how a ballpoint pen works, let alone a transistor, let alone AI.

How can you speak so confidently about something that you clearly have absolutely no understanding of? And why would you just promote the claims of OpenAI, whose CEO has a documented track record of trouble with the truth?
011
L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
You claim in your podcast that the sandbox was “setup correctly” in the OpenAI/Hugging Face incident. Firstly, do you even know how a sandbox functions? Secondly, what evidence do you have to support your claims other than OpenAI itself, which is incentivized to convince people of this spooky magic?

It’s amazing how un-questioning everyone seems to be about these AI companies. And in the case of OpenAI, Sam Altman has a serious track record of dishonesty. I should probably stop being amazed by the gullibility of both the media and the general public

L. Guapo @lguap0.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Is there any evidence that the OpenAI models are doing what OpenAI claims besides the claims of OpenAI themselves?

Where will those funds come from? Are middle class people who chose not to have children expected to pay even more for other people’s kids? There’s already the child tax credit. Fix healthcare first! Everyone needs healthcare. Not everyone has children.

I have a very, very slim hope that this will paradoxically help inventory by showing would-be sellers clinging to their low mortgage (and holding out for mortgage rates to go back to the 3s) that rates in the 6s and 7s is the new normal.

Does every Republican politician have a team of people managing every aspect of their lives? I can’t understand how these people function day-to-day without the most basic understanding of how virtually anything works.

Vance is the embodiment of unlikable. He’s the guy you hope doesn’t sit next to you in any public or social situation. He’s the guy that makes you involuntarily cringe when you see him.
