Well-argued. Excellent.

At the words "Democrats prepare" my sense of reality was already breaking down.

Great work, Mr. Johnson. Yours is one of the voices that scrapes the gunk off my glasses, clarifies the world.

Nice piece. Every time I read about Fukushima my picture gets worse (hadn't known about Tokyo's cesium dusting). The huge amounts of money, power, reputation, etc. cooked into nuclear projects _guarantees_ routine risk denialism and ass-covering false reassurances when disaster does strike.

Murphy: "the war goals DO NOT involve destroying Iran's nuclear weapons program." True, they do not, because despite Murphy's transmission in these words of a standard Big Lie, Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapons program to destroy: news.antiwar.com/2025/03/25/u...

I respectfully disagree. Gaps would draw accusations, but not prove anything. And the Trumpoverse is very good at shedding and dodging accusations. Nixon was the Teflon President by comparison.

I'm concerned about the emphasis on the Epstein files because if there is no smoking gun in them, it will be a huge _win_ for Trump -- much like the fact that "Mueller Time" didn't bring the blast of regime-ending indictments that many on the left-liberal spectrum so confidently expected.

Wouldn't matter one little bit if Trump was sane and decent. Military obedience, a.k.a. "service," does not confer superior moral stature.

Since a Department of War, not Defense, is exactly what it is and always has been, despite being given the inherently phony name of "Defense Department" in 1949, this change would make perfect sense if it weren't being advocated by fascist chaos lords who just want _even more_ war.

Yes. Nevertheless, negotiation would be a good way to end a proxy conflict between the world's two largest nuclear-armed powers -- a conflict that, whether through malice or misstep, could become direct and civilization-ending at any moment.

My own Rep here in Maine. How I loathe this little man. From talking to his office, it's clear to me that because 15% of the votes he received are from ballot-splitters who also voted for Trump, he panders endlessly to that small minority of supporters while constantly betraying the other 85%.

So many words could have been used, like "false," "untrue," "baseless," "falsified," "well known as crap for centuries now." But NPR opts for "outdated."

We should drop "draft dodger" as a pejorative. For many, if not for Trump, not fighting in Vietnam was a brave, honorable, and rational choice.

There is no evidence Iran has decided to rush toward building a nuclear weapon, CIA director says
As Israel weighs its response to Iran’s ballistic missile attack, CIA Director William Burns said Monday that there is a “very real danger of a further regional escalation of conflict.”

All true about Musk being a tick of course, but Ayn Rand's value system is totally mad and rotten, so whether it ranks anyone as a hero or a villain is neither here nor there.

All true, except that it will be difficult for Trump to find many authoritarian governments with which the US is not _already_ aligned.

Fusion = bullshit. "Break-even" claims are misleading because they refer only to raw energy at the point of reaction. But oceans of electricity go into forcing the reaction. They're spending millions to mint pennies & calling it free money. Light-years from making competitively priced power

Gaza didn't necessarily have to be a top issue to dampen Democratic zeal and squelch turnout. Can't exactly help when the majority of your party's voters believe you are supporting a genocide: www.commondreams.org/news/democra...

Friendly reminder back atcha that Biden didn't need Netanyahu to "accept" anything to stop this genocide, since Biden has had the power all along to withhold military aid to Israel.

Bingo. All use cases that contribute real value are actually for machine learning (pattern recognition for speech, medical data, etc.), not for generative AI. The two are radically different, but we've been bamboozled into lumping them under a single heading, "AI."

Absolutely: The problem is not that a few special bad people get to be billionaires, but that anybody does. If they were all as lovable as puppies it would make no difference. The inequity is the evil.
