Just came across this new to us likely queer game from 1983. Anyone have any information about it? This advertisement was in The Advocate classifieds section.
Vintage mail-order advertisement for a computer game called 'Vapor Palace,' priced at $24.95 postpaid, with the tagline 'Hot Time at the Baths.' The ad features a stylized illustration of a muscular male figure in a towel standing in a doorway. Below is the publisher logo 'Bananasoft' with a banana graphic. The ad lists compatible systems: Timex 1000, TRS-80 III, Apple II, IBM PC, and VIC-20, each shown with their respective cassette or floppy disk format. Text notes the game requires 16K RAM minimum. Ordering information includes a PO Box address in Seattle, WA, a note that WA residents must add sales tax, and a delivery estimate of two to six weeks."

🚨🚨🚨 we're sweetening the deal w/ a FREE ROMchip videogames/video games hat (dealers choice) for anyone who can track down either a playable copy of this game or substantial corroborating historical materials (packaging, reviews, references in business articles, information on the developers, etc).

QGCon directs as much funding as possible to travel grants, on top of keeping cost of access low, including no-cost tickets for attendees who need them. Like a lot of non-profits, we are having a rough year. Please consider sharing and /or contributing to keep the Queerness and Games Con going!

If you ask "why did you include X, but not Y" you are, personally, the cause of anxiety that led me to wait so long to make this public. I hope you are happy.

I started working on the LGBTQ Video Game Archive just over a decade ago (although the site was made public in May 2026). Last semester I used my tuition remission benefits to take a class on infographic design to make a resources to accompany the site (particularly for teachers of all kinds).
