Life is not entertaining. Though I accept its artistic value.

I've seen several Jersey Tiger moths in and around Kingston, South West London, this summer, like this one resting on my door frame. And I'm pretty sure there's a Jersey Tiger caterpillar eating the leaves off one of my aubergines in the greenhouse. They used to be very rare in England

My dad used to play this all the time. He was a very gifted musician whose band, in the late sixties, supported the Kinks and Pink Floyd, but who decided to pursue a career as a theoretical physicist instead. Wherever I hear it, I well up. Sometimes even when I just think about it.

All I see three days is style instead of art. Show me some art! I don't care for Instagram pretty. Show me the dog violets in the pavement, show me the funny graffiti. Life is more than style.

"If you cross the river, a great empire will be destroyed" - The Oracle of Delphi to Croesus, King of Lydia, after he enquired about the outcome of his planned war on Persia. Croesus took this to be a good prophecy and went ahead with his war. She was right. The great empire that fell was Lydia.

Debugging one of my apps, i came across this #foundpoetry One for @greatdismal.bsky.social, I think I wonder if the people that wrote these error messages are fans of the Sprawl series?

LinkedIn is such a dry old place. This is a top-notch technical joke and it sank without a trace. What's that? No, it really is funny. No, it is.

The Invasion of the Straw Men (2030) - A world in the grip of spurious arguments against imagined opponents starts to realise that perhaps these opponents aren't so imagined after all, as wave after wave of the so-called Straw Men start to wreak havoc on society.

I think the problem is that when people think of themselves as 'normal', they are constantly looking for justifications for the belief that other people are 'not normal'. Epistemological permissions, if you like.

I have read and watched an awful lot of political commentary recently and I have come to the firm conclusion that the only qualification needed for this is a confident manner. It would be refreshing to hear people say 'i don't know' more often, rather than confidently making things up
