Men and boys, don’t rape or associate with rapists. And if you know of a rape, especially but not only while it’s currently going on, freaking call the police and tell your “friends “ you’ve done so. Silent revulsion helps not one single person. That’s the only message here

“The fraternity “ I said. Unless he’s emblematic of the whole lot, why is that worthy of the fuck you comment? And as for being in a bad mood, well, I am far from alone in reliving fraternity rape right now. I, too, am in a bad mood . If they collectively spoke up, maybe things could change

The fraternity can show that and maybe help a bit by speaking out loudly about how vile this is now. Silent we hate them” thoughts just aren’t enough. Or really anything right now

Most shaving waivers in three military are given to African American men because of razor bumps. The jumped up National Guard major is simply racist

This is one (of a gazillion) reason healthcare needs to be nonprofit. Under the No Surprises Act arbitration system, insurers go before arbitrators against those they were required to pay and didn’t, they lose nearly 90% of the time. Yup. 90%. Seems clear who the problem is

Man, you sparked a conversation! My son’s printing the article out to properly annotate it. (He’s my son!) He agrees across the board, though worries about the will to enforce. I’ll share his notes rather than paraphrase. But also, he/his friends have a digital bot fighting ring. Always learning?

Kid moved to Minneapolis to follow their dreams (yay/sob) and of course took their dog Flash. He’s getting winter gear and we’re getting pictures. This is my favorite, which my son has dubbed “medieval serf.” The next is what my daughter names “My father paid to get me into Yale”
Maryland dog in new Minnesota garb, a warm snuggie green sweater. He is deeply unthrilled. Titled by his doggie uncle “Medieval Serf”Unhappy white dog in winter sweater, boots, and hat. Titled “My father
Paid to get me into Yale” (not sure the hat is strictly necessary but I am not from Minneapolis)

Our work truck is an ancient Toyota Tundra, needed to haul stuff we sell. We only use the truck for events, so it doesn’t go through a lot of gas. First time I’ve been glad business is slow. Our margins are already low and this would drive them immediately negative. You know, if business existed

An attorney representing the Department of Justice said the government could “bulldoze” the Statue of Liberty and not be subject to legal challenges over it.

Context
Yaakov M. Roth, the DOJ’s deputy assistant attorney general of the civil division, was answering a hypothetical question from U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Patricia Millett during an appeal hearing on June 5, 2026, in which she asked if ancestors of those who immigrated to the U.S. with the Statue of Liberty being “the first thing they saw coming to this country” had any legal claim to challenge the hypothetical destruction of the Statue of Liberty after the work was already done.✅

Interestingly (to me, at least) he is very much of the opinion that vibe coding isn’t merely lazy, it does a terribly and dangerously inconsistent job. But that’s a topic for a later day/article. Off to the dr now

It may just be that I feel like crap and am being more cynical than usual. I’ll bookmark, share it with the kids (somehow now in college) and discuss it with them. My son is mostly through a cyber security degree and will have opinions, but he’s also looking for a way to help improve this situation

I stand by my assessment that everything in the article requires good faith effort on the part of people in control of Congress. (Which will hopefully change in January). It would still likely face a veto. I DID miss the county-level bit and that is a very tangible ray of hope. So thanks, seriously

I didn’t read it that way—and I read all of it. That said, I’ve been half-functional all day from flu meds so I’ll read it again. What I did see was that good legislation was possible if Johnson would be willing to pass it (or at least bring it to the floor)

As long as it was 3 years ago or more, stealing from your workplace is no longer disqualifying. Which may be what at least part of this sensationalist stuff is supposed to distract from. But I could be giving too much credit

A few Republicans said something alluding to that a few years ago. Not the Russian part, the hushed admission that they feared for their lives. I assumed at the time that they were afraid of MAGA. Now I wonder

Well said. Even if I am not thrilled (or even dislike) a candidate, it’s about control of the legislative branch, not the individual. Similarly, if (somehow) I respected a Republican and their personal stances on my issues, they wouldn’t get my vote because that places the gavel in Johnson’s hands
