Lexi McCologist @leximccologist.bsky.social · 05/08/2026This morning I was thrilled to find the first tomatoes to start ripening. Cherokee purples. Plus some other garden highlights. 🌱 #vegetablegardening 0100

Lexi McCologist @leximccologist.bsky.social · 17/06/2026For the rose gardeners. Rose petal beads from The Art of Cooking with Roses by Jean Gordon. Noonday Press, 1968. The book has an array of recipes for teas, custards and puddings, jams, cakes, potpourri and cosmetics...and more. If folks are interested, I'll post the index. 🌱 #theoutpost 241
Lexi McCologist @leximccologist.bsky.social · 09/06/2026The store was out of the chili garlic sauce I've been buying. When I got home, this is what I found in the bottom of my bag. Evidently, the idea of going without sent me into a bit of an emotional tailspin. 🍜 241
Lexi McCologist @leximccologist.bsky.social · 18/04/2026I grew up eating bread from Brother Juniper's bakery. I remember being appalled as a teenager that it cost $1.79 per loaf. But Stuan Bread was absolutely the best, my favorite. I don't remember where I got this recipe (it was pre-Internet days) but it's from Peter Reinhart. 230

Lexi McCologist @leximccologist.bsky.social · 17/01/2026Now, I usually bring tomatoes (cut or whole, sometimes peeled sometimes not) to a boil, place them pint canning jars, and store them in the freezer for soups, stews, and salsa. Sometimes I make cooked salsa and freeze that in half pint jars. No need to can them in a water bath. 010
