TFW, you've had a slightly frustrating disrupted week jumping around between bitty bits of work & feeling unproductive, so you settle down to do some nice, straightforward #lexicography & the next word on your list is "waggle" 😊 #amcompiling

Honestly, I sometimes think #lexicography work should come with counselling. I just had to do a corpus search for the phrase "vomit sth up" ... it was pretty nasty ... #amcompiling

A frustrating #StetWalk this morning, took my glass bottle to the deli to get a milk refill ... only to find they'd run out. Had to resort to plastic milk from the supermarket but then argued with the self-checkout about the empty glass bottle in my shopping bag! At least there were magnolias ...

A swearing ban risks making team radio feel sanitised and staged, diminishing the very sense of access that made it compelling and exciting in the first place.

TFW, you're writing something about usage labels in dictionaries and find yourself looking up examples of words in a whole bunch of dictionaries (on and offline) to see how they label them ... then realize your search history's going to look really dodgy #lexicographylife

It's been a grey, damp week, but unusually mild (13-14°C) & going out in woolly hats & scarves, I've overheated. Today, there were blue skies so I headed out hatless for a post-lunch #StetWalk ... turned out to be just 6°C & felt more like 3°C in the cold wind ... brrrr!!
A photo from this afternoon's walk across the Downs in Bristol. It's an open patch of grass with leafless trees silhouetted on the horizon casting long shadows and beautiful blue skies. The low sun can just be seen shining through one of the trees.

Very blowy on a short Saturday-morning #StetWalk & hard to stand up at points, but super-snug inside my woolly hat + double hood combo #StormDarragh
A selfie taken on the Downs in Bristol this morning during Storm Darragh, for which this area had a red weather alert. I'm wearing a multicoloured scarf wrapped up to just below my nose inside a black hoodie with the hood up and a black waterproof over the top also with the hood up that I'm having to hang onto with one hand because it's billowing in the strong winds. You can see dark grey sky in the background and a smudge of green grass.

A slight struggle of a #StetWalk on a gloomy winter morning. I made it across the river though which, with a high tide, was a muddy, churning flow:
A photo taken on this morning's walk on the banks of the river Avon as it flows out along the Avon Gorge. I'm standing on a grassy bank, next to a heavily graffitied concrete structure taking up the right third of the picture. The river is full and high with brown muddy water. In the distance you can see the Clifton Suspension Bridge high above the river and on the right-hand bank, below the bridge the brightly-coloured terraced houses of Clifton. The sky is a uniform pale grey.

A crappy pain day & I'm not sure a cold #StetWalk helped much physically, but definitely mentally better than moping around at home:
A photo of an old blocky, brick warehouse, some trees and a building with a tall chimney on the edge of a stretch of Bristol harbourside, all silhouetted against a grey cloudy sky with a small patch of brightness trying to break through, and reflected in the very still water of the inland, manmade harbour
