like of course that can already go into a piece when consideration is given to posing, action, expression etc. but a big part of artfight is that you don't have to be of any particular skill level to participate. abstract and conceptual art is a great way for people to do just that

also i got around clip studio's 24 frame limit by dragging the frames around the playback zone, then exporting them to drag into GNU image manipulation program to export as a full gif. functional but made it impossible to see the whole animation together while working

i was working in a choppy framerate to give it a sort of jerky unnatural feeling, but it made it hard to move the pieces too fast, so i might add more inbetweens to the forward motion so i can make that part less slow. and it doesn't curl forward enough but that's what i get for not doing keyframes

purple also appears in a couple designs, likely due to its proximity to blue and silver tones. other observations were about demeanor, a lot of them being very menacing, stalwart, or unnatural. a good handful of them float and there's not much bias between bipedal and quadrupedal

well ferrothorn is green but only on account of its grass typing. we get some orange later on with solgaleo, kartana, perrserker and cufant line but they're very bright unnatural oranges.. also bronzong is of course made of bronze but there are no bronze hues until one of klefki's keys lol

then there's jirachi which doesn't have a metal bone in its body, but is steel type as a reference to the metals found in meteors (if memory serves)! trash burmy reflects the metals of cities, and lucario, while it does have metal spikes, i think it also represents its ironclad will. # fantheory

second observation is most of the time the steel typing is literal, but there are fun examples where it's more symbolic. forretress isn't explicitly metallic, but the steel type represents its incredible durability. but still it just represents a physical quality

and blues show up as less contrasting accents, or main colors like the turquoises of the beldum and bronzor lines. yellow also sometimes an accent to go with those blues. so far few natural hues like orange and green (but exceptions like heatran and excadrill with browns), mostly very stark shades

most immediate trend im noticing is red is a very common companion/accent color due to it having the best contrast with the silvers and blue tinted metals of a lot of the bodies. registeel even has red eyes instead of yellow like regirock and regice for that extra pop
