Uhh, I was super into dinos as a kid but not as much anymore. Although adjacent to it and vehicles, I am a big fan of tokusatsu like Godzilla, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai/Power Rangers, etc.

Nvm that I consider the notion of abolishing capitalism to be at best, a multi-generational project none of us will be alive to see come to fruition.

Now, while I get that left-leaning, anti-capitalist queer folks really don’t like rainbow capitalism because of how it legitimizes it and makes any notion of trying to reign or abolish it much harder…getting mad at corporations viewing you as a valid customer is not the hill to die on.

Yeah that's one of the big gaping issues with anarchism if it goes society wide: how to stop others from trying to amass power without using your own institution of power and authority? 'Cause leaning into "everyone is in their natural Good-ness that they'll never do that" is naive thinking.

Looking at it, it comes across as them believing the "A Few Bad Apples designed these systems to screw over the rest of us". The irony isn't lost on me since anarchists are the type to criticize the loudest the "a few bad apples" explanation for police brutality.

Anarchists talk about institutions and systems the way some Christians talk about Satan. They see evil as an outside force that's imposed on us so they don't have to deal with the fact that it rises out of us.

(This is without getting into the nuances of the various top down systems anarchists rail against and how they often don’t think through long term impacts of what would happen if all those systems were gone and replaced with nothing, or on thinking through if their replacements would be good enough)

I don’t consider this to be bad, I just accept this that it’s just the way it is: that for all the times humanity has willingly done something kind and compassionate of their own agency, there are others where they’ve done something cruel and atrocious of their own choosing and not being forced to.

lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
That if we just abolish all these top-down institutions and systems of control and oppression, that humanity will default back to their natural good-ness of their own free will and volition. …suffice to say, I personally disagree with this. I think humanity is good and evil of their own will.

lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Ah, this. And considering this person self-identifies as one…it recently started to occur to me that anarchists do have an oddly optimistic view of humanity. That humanity is naturally good, and that it’s all these institutions of oppression that are coercing us to accept or do evil things.

Although IIRC, Book-Jack was the way he was because the book was somewhat of a stand in for King himself, because King was working through a couple of his own personal issues like alcoholism. …which is one theory on why King hates Kubrick’s movie so much, not merely being an inaccurate adaptation.

I still don’t get how terminally online leftists think “VBNMW” means “always vote for the centrist Dem in the primary, unquestioningly and uncritically” when that’s not what that means.

Certainly speaking for myself: Hastert’s political career was while I was a kid, then a teen, and wouldn’t end until the middle of high school. I can definitely say I wasn’t following politics at that time!
010
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
My first guess would be that for a lot of the more younger terminally online social media users, Hastert was from the Before Times…aka Before Trump. Because let’s be fair: there’s a *lot* of people who didn’t really follow politics until Trump.

…ok since this is just a screenshot and not the article, my first question is “over what length of time?” ‘Cause it’s one thing if this is like over several decades, but if this is in the spawn of a few years that’s fucked.

…for the record, I also think this is a very very dumb idea for Newsom to indulge in, since history has shown GOP voters refusing to ever vote Dem. Doubly so since we’re talking about a California governor.

lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The theory has been that, his takeaway from 2024 is that the country *has* gone further to the right, and he believes Dem/left-leaning voters just aren’t enough anymore to elect a Dem president in. So he’s already preemptively campaigning in the general instead of for the primary.

I’d say Coyote vs ACME’s success has less to do with “demolishing” the narrative of the Culture War and more that chuds feeling like there’s nothing to fight over. AKA something a lot more mundane. Which I don’t find unusual since they generally don’t try to brigade over *every* single movie.
100
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Hell if memory serves me right, I think even the chuds thought that Zaslev/WBD were in the wrong for canceling Coyote vs ACME in the first place.
131
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
…and no real angle to cover up theoretical “leave WBD, the poor multi-billion corporation alone” bootlicking.

Iunno, it could be as simple as that there wasn’t any material to grift off of. Kevin and Buddy/Cena being white (probably cis) men, Eric Bauza as main VA not really being in the marketing and thus no one getting Weird about him being an Asian man…
140
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Were they ever? Because last I checked the chuds didn’t really care about Coyote vs ACME in the first place.

“In taking The Magician’s Nephew out of the early 1900s setting of the novel, and into post-war ‘50s Britain instead…” Oh? Well that’s definitely interesting. Especially since that moves it out of the time period of the original TLW&tW.

Once again, I would like to know WTF is going on on Toei's side of things. Although I suppose it's not unreasonable that an anime that's only licensing Rider is being treated differently then regular Rider stuff...

Yeah I think that’s the other thing: that conditional “if” he put in his statement. Certainly I’m willing to concede on copium, but in this instance it’s the kind of detail low-information MAGA voters wouldn’t notice, but high-information Dem voters would take note on.

lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Although since this is Texas we’re taking, it could be that their centrists are more right-of-center, and the risk can’t be taken that there’s a silent majority of unactivated left-of-center Texan moderates. Nvm that the right would still pounce if Talarico never gave an answer.
010
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
To the point it wouldn’t surprise me that in the alternate timeline where Crockett won the primary, she would have given a similar answer and approach…where she kinda had to ‘cause Texas would still have been a red state.
210
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
If this is about Talarico…yeah as a general reminder, statewide elections you have to tailor your campaigns to the cultural environment you’re in. And in this case, yeah Texas is still mostly a ruby red state. What Mamdani did in NYC, a very blue city, wouldn’t work for Talarico in a red state.

By “Dana had clearly moved on”, I assumed you were broadly referring to her maintaining and referencing her connection as the creator of Owl House, not just on the show being canceled.
020
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
That they misinterpreted “it’s sexist to have the heroine’s only motivation to get married to a man” to be “it’s sexist for the heroine to want a romantic relationship, period”.
020
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
That said, I’ve had a suspicion that the lack of romance in recent Disney animated movies has been because of Disney…misinterpreting a criticism against Disney Princesses/Heroines regarding romances.
120
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Well up to a point: she did pop again as “Dana, creator of Owl House” when Disney announced the Sora-OpenAI deal (that yes, is now defunct) and openly encouraged people to cancel their D+ subs and to pirate Owl House.
110
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
We don’t, no. Honestly, a lot of this I think has to do with Owl House fans who are still pissed about the show’s cancellation, Terrace’s falling out with Disney, and the circumstances of it and reading into Hexed Existing and making a lot of assumptions surrounding it.

Mostly because Zionism in of itself is complicated in that there's different types of it. And not all of them believe that displacing/killing every single Palestinian is Fine, Actually.
131
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Considering the conspiracy that the upcoming Hexed movie is Disney’s attempt at “Owl House but straight-washed”, it’s shit like this that almost makes me want that movie to overwhelmingly succeed. Almost.

Uh? I'm not entirely sure how fast it gets to a million is that big of a deal. Otherwise, gotta be honest: if the show flops, it's not going to be because everyone woke up to JKR's transphobia. It's going to be because the show's just yet-another-unnecessary remake that does nothing new.

Nvm the article doesn't mention the elephant in the room that S3 is also supposed to be focusing on improving the onboarding anyways for newer players. Kinda makes more sense for potential newer players to just, wait for S3 to launch.

...it's end of the season that's longer by a month, with accelerated progression, and the inflated loot bug at the start of the season, AKA a lot of people "finished" sooner. And the people who remain are the people who are using their purple/gold loot. No duh this is not a good time for new players

Hell it's to the point that once CODE falls, Nox is like "...welp, I don't know what to do now, so imma just wander around!" It would've made more sense if the arcs were swapped, to have the Gore Nightmares also be CODE's problem, maybe even invite ambiguity on the necessity of their existence.
000
lewcidgm.bsky.social @lewcidgm.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
It's kinda the whole impetus behind Baku's and a lot of the other character's motivations. So to have a bunch of the CODE-loyal characters killed and the organization destroyed in the second-to-last arc kinda removes a bunch of the character's personal stakes from the show.
