Northern Ireland is good for a #SensoryArt #Clouds challenge! #Photography #FilmPhotography #35mm #FilmIsNotDead #analogphotography #EastCoastKin #mono #LightLeak #fomapan

I captured the total eclipse from at Épila, Spain. A carpark is as moving a place to view this surreal sight as anywhere else, all you need is to experience it with the one(s) you love #eclipse #photography
My view of the total solar eclipse as viewed from a carpark in the scrub/desert around Épila, Spain. The photograph shows totality in wide angle, as well as the partial eclipse phases before and immediately after totality

Fairly happy with my progress on building an open source driver for my id card printer. Vendor output on top, my driver on the bottom (based on reverse engineering from USB packet captures; does still rely on client having vendor LUT files available for thermal/dye props)
Photograph of two printed id cards. The cards show the same test pattern with colour blocks, black blocks, black-to-white grey scale strip, and thin lines. The output is nearly identical, with some breaks in thin lines on the bottom card (and lower density on the greyscale strip)

Slightly #gender, slightly #horror work in progress animation on the theme of gender transition, shedding a misassigned skin in a literal way... next step is to work on more natural mesh morphing, and trying to grow and style hair. #blender #render #transrightsarehumanrights

If you're in corporate communications in 2026 and you think leading people up the garden path like this softens things rather than a direct non-time-wasting "We're increasing your prices" then you need to change career #bt
An e-mail from BT: "we're committed to giving you the best service, one you can count on every day, because you're at the heart of everything we do.
For generations we've been connecting the UK, and now we're upgrading our network with the rollout of Full Fibre to bring faster broadband to millions of homes nationwide.
All year round we invest in teams of engineers, cyber security specialists and technical experts across the country, working to keep your network strong and secure, giving you confidence in your connection.
To continue giving you the connection and reliability you expect from us, we need to make price changes.
From 31 March 2026, your prices will change in line with your terms and conditions. You'll find all the details in the table below."

@giswqs.bsky.social I watched your recent video about SAM3 and samgeo - do you have any thoughts on approach for survey maps? I'm trying to extract map data from old imagery of NYC and have been using SAM2 and is ok, I can't get anything from SAM3; is data just too noisy and abstract?

I've been doing some historical data analysis, and I think the first time the 'sun never set' over the british empire was in 1685 with the colonisation of bengkulu by the East India Company (when it was still called the English Empire). Didn't factor in eclipses though... #history #maps
A map showing the English Empire as it stood just prior to the 1685 colonisation of Bengkulu in South-Western Indonesia by the East India Company. There is a day/night terminator line, showing the empire was still able to be in total darkness at this point.A map showing the English Empire as it stood just after the 1685 colonisation of Bengkulu in South-Western Indonesia by the East India Company. There is a day/night terminator line, showing that the empire spanned sufficiently broadly east/west such that there was no date/time (until the 2025 surrender of the Chagos Islands) where the sun was not shining upon at least one part of the Empire.

In love with this photo project theface.com/society/ukra...
Viktor 38. Victor, his service spanning a decade, sees this war as being about more than territory. “This is probably the first war where so many openly LGBT+ soldiers are fighting on the frontline,” he says. “That in itself is a sign: we’re fighting not just for borders, but for values. We’re like a diamond coating on a blade – the first to hit this threat, cutting through metal.

“We’re on the boundary between a world of values and an anti-world,” he continues. “Russia and its allies – North Korea and Iran – are an empire trying to destroy the very concept of human values, crystallising into a sinister force, anti-matter, devoid of ethics.”

Cool cool Evri, very cool. Now we play the game of "Are your systems broken and not synced up, or is that parcel actually arriving after all?". My bet is on: later today I'll get an e-mail telling me that they tried to deliver it (when they didn't) and that they're returning it to the sender.
Timeline from an incompetent parcel delivery company's tracking page. The timeline reads:

09:13 - Your parcel is on its way to you today
09:48 - Your local courier will deliver your parcel between 11:30 and 13:30 today
10:19 - We're sorry, we're not able to deliver your parcel today, but we will deliver it on the next working day.
12:18 - Your local courier will deliver your parcel between 12:00 and 14:00 today

Really excited by how quickly the Seestar S50 can get capturing images - weather has been near-total clouds here for the last month but in the 20-30 minute breaks in the cloud there's been enough time to get it out & get pictures taken. Now I just need to get better with PixInsight...
