Took a break from this website for a bit for a variety of reasons - taking a break from reading stuff posted by people I'm not happy with, dodging unwanted attention from a large neonazi podcast, and preparing for international travel. Everything turned out ok! I had a fantastic time in Toronto.

This is a comics reading extravaganza featuring some of the best cartoonists of the midwest. Zine Out Loud is back with its first iteration in collaboration with Print and Resist. This is a comics reading extravaganza featuring some of the best cartoonists of the midwest.

Our headliners this time are Kevin Huizenga and Iona Fox (iona_fox) all the way from beautiful Chicago, IL.

Before we'll have readings from Andrea Pearson, Jesse Lee Kercheval, La Grande Jaja, Levi Moos, Rebecca Richardson, Tanya Habjouqa.

This event is organized and hosted by E Joy Mehr and Vincent Mollica.

Kevin Huizenga is a Chicago based cartoonist whose graphic novels include The River at Night, Curses, The Wild Kingdom, and Gloriana. His work has been translated into six languages, including Dutch; he won five Ignatz awards and been nominated for Harvey and Eisner awards.

Iona Fox is a cartoonist living in Chicago. Her newspaper strip Almanac ran in Seven Days alt-weekly from 2016-2019, during which she was twice-nominated for EXPOZINE MONTREAL “Best Comic” Award & appeared in Best American Comics 2018 Notables.

Thank you twin cities zine fest! I had a wonderful time sharing my worm culture of the future, erotic linocut zines, and the two new prints I made in January. We raised funds for ZCC (my local food resource) and the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota with the funds from Walk Like A Penguin!

ADVANCE is the first of hopefully several hand relief printed micro publications. Printing erotic art on equipment that can't be shut down or censored short of physical confiscation feels like something these days, even if it's not a practical answer to the shrinking free access to information.

Been working on making my zines more thoughtfully designed physical objects. I hate staples and don't have a long arm stapler, why staple if I don't have to? I think these are going to be the canonical cover colors for Writhe and Writhe 2055 going forward, and I'll keep the thread binding going.
