They are raking it in on behalf of the government. If your house is burgled, your car stolen, or your neighbourhood blighted by antisocial behaviour don't expect the police to solve your problems.

000

OhNo!NotHimAgain @lettingitslide.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

So, state funded police allocate the resources they receive. They choose how many officers point speed cameras and how many tackle antisocial behaviour, ie yobs and crims terrorising communities on illegal E-bikes. They are certainly very good at the first and rubbish at the second.

100

OhNo!NotHimAgain @lettingitslide.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

you miss the point about the use of valuable police resources and their apparent inability to catch very dangerous drivers personalising your point of view is also not very clever

OhNo!NotHimAgain @lettingitslide.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Here in Wales all 30mph zones became 20. A small % of the change was justified, the majority not. The police are raking in vast sums by catching out otherwise careful drivers who exceed the 20 by a few mph while irresponsible nutcases appear to do what they like elsewhere. A bonkers use of resources

Outspoken Gary Lineker is concerned about climate change but, like all sports people, will never suggest massively scaling back world tournaments with massive carbon footprints. maybe. but that's a lot of trees wasted for Coupland's vanity at a point in the story where the plot and characters become increasingly implausible. as if the author has grown bored with his own work and wants the reader to hate it more than like it . . .

John: It's a family legend. As a result I was home-schooled and didn't even know that capitalized letters existed until I was ten. Kaitlin: What do lesbians have against capitalized letters? John: Capitalization implies a hierarchy, that some letters are more special than others. Kaitlin: Oh.

on a more complimentary note doug. i enjoyed this from jpod: Kaitlin: And while we're on the subject, what exactly is your beef with lottery tickets? John: My beef is that my father won the Irish sweepstakes when I was two and left my mother, who overreacted and became a power lesbian. ⤵️
