It felt pretty dang good to get a pull quote like this about an RPG I created from @stevekenson.com, a designer whose name is on a large number of the games I've played, run, and loved over the years. You can find out more here: gamefound.com/en/projects/...

Just did an interview where I explained that my game's not about superheroes, but you might be able to channel a dead Power Ranger or have a Dial H for Hero gadget that lets you do magic, but no, I wouldn't say it's superheroes, exactly. 🥴 Anyway, please buy GRIDSHOCK Zero Edition when it comes out

Terminal State is going to print and is now open for late pledges/preorders. Terminal State is a cyberpunk TTRPG powered by the Year Zero Engine - used in Free League games like Alien, Coriolis, and Blade Runner. A new vision of the genre rooted in our present, rather than an 80s retro-future.

It is not easy to find illustrators who really "get" the mix of influences and genres at play in GRIDSHOCK. Yes, it starts with the superhero genre as the main building block, but there's a lot of other stuff in the worldbuilding pile. It doesn't play exactly like a "supers" RPG either, I hope.

Forget April Fool's. The Terminal State beta is live for Kickstarter backers, who are already finding typos (which both I and spell checkers somehow missed). Which is good! We're finally nearing the finish line. After final edits and finishing touches, we'll open the Kickstarter to late backers.

Tumblr post from user vixensdungeon, responding to an anonymous question:

"I'd like to get into tabletop RPGs but I'm not sure if there's a game for the specific type of experience I want: I'd like a game that centers around adventurers doing into dangerous underground places to fight monsters and seek treasure and perhaps grow stronger in the process. Not sure if such a thing exists."

vixensdungeon answered:

"I'm pretty sure you can homebrew Vampire: The Masquerade to accomplish this."

I don't want to speak for Chris, the game's creator, but he's still hard at work on Terminal State. It is, frustratingly, very close to being finished, but various issues unrelated to the game are slowing us down. We're on Game Dial Level 1 (Warning/Stressful).

I found a handful of reviews of GRIDSHOCK 20XX I had forgotten about. They're from a few years ago, when the zines came out. It sure feels nice to see people excited to open a box, look at, and read something you made. Once we get Terminal State done, it'll be time for me to make something again.

I feel like the "mirth" part of Dragonbane is overstated. Sure, goofy stuff can (and does) happen, and you can play a duck person, but I don't feel like comedy is that prominent in the rules, or that the game is inherently sillier than similar fantasy TTRPGs tend to be at the table.

I posted this the other day on Free League's Year Zero Worlds Discord server. I've been saying this for a while, but am I right?
"I feel like superhero games require a bit more buy-in, in terms of accepting what the genre is like. If a player (or the GM) isn't on board with that, it can easily become a bad time, perhaps more easily than with something more constrained like a dungeon fantasy game."
