One of the biggest things I've learned from Trump 2.0 (more than Trump 1.0) is that the entire framework of our government and legal system has only worked because people generally respected it. When Trump 2.0 just says "Nah, not gonna do that," there is no consequence to hold him accountable

You need non partisan recall legislation. For all politicians. They screw up/lie to their constituents, their constituents can vote them out. And a two term limit.

In this, there is a cultivated fear of loosing the French language and of blaming Ottawa for problems in the province. (It reminds me of the MAGA movement in that regard - fear and blame). Lived here 50 years. This diminished for many years but has increased in this era of polarized politics.

I have serious concerns about how the Democrats and most media are normalizing these US midterms, prioritizing issues like affordability. The elephant in the room is the emergence of an authoritarian and corrupt RW President and oligarchy working to fundamentally destroy the American democracy.

I’ve been hearing a lot of hating on our PM, and I suspect that part of that is because it’s a-la-mode to hate on the elected party, but I think many people fail to realize that the only way to pay for a defense strategy is to cut costs elsewhere and/or get outside capital (investment).

"Tempering" means the PQ are promising a referendum but they will wait until Trump is out of office. This seems very short sighted... real change south of the border may take decades. The threat is real. (my 2 cents) Advanced polls for the Quebec provincial election are this coming weekend.

Fréchette's party (the CAQ) is unpopular going into the elections. Her party is french-first/non-separatists. Narrative of the US trying to divide and conquer are good for her agenda. Fear of the US is the only variable tempering the PQ (primary sovereignty party) promise of a referendum.

That comment is a symptom of the problem. This should not be ok, even if he was not an American Citizen. This highlights the idea that there are two classes of human beings and that it’s ok to treat on class differently. I suspect that’s not what you intended, but it bears mentioning. Be safe.

It took 2 year to get to midterms while criminal actions reigned unchecked. This criminality has been normalized by lack of abnormal reaction from voters. Without consequence for the administration's actions and real constitutional change this will repeat. Blue has to mean more than not status quo.
