I mean, would it be any worse than Scott Brown winning Massachusetts in 2009?

“Congress should not get involved in executive duties” then mentions trade and war… FFS our civics education is clearly in dire straits.

1917 was like that too, except, interestingly, for the two main characters.

I think this is very charitable.

Didn’t the Washington Post literally set up a video series to this effect?

Liberal cosmopolitanism can definitely also capture the imagination. It is a profoundly noble idea, and many have died for it. It just requires liberals to understand the importance of presenting it as such.

Also, a society founded by slave revolt, and whom it is heavily implied engineered the Doom of Valyria which saved Essos from the rule of bloodthirsty dragon-lords.

On the other hand, Sherrill and Spanberger blew past the polling levels. It might be a primary phenomenon.

He was very tall but super skinny. Though as Brad Pitt in Fight Club said that probably just makes him more scrappy.

Didn't the original Combat Evolved not have multiplayer because it was pre-XBOX Live? I'm mainly glad it has co-op cross-platform.

That’s an Elite, the *enemy* of the Spartans through most of the trilogy. Or are they implying that the tiny human soldier facing him is the Spartan?

Shashank S.B. @leshank94.bsky.social · 30/07/2026
I think it’s referring to the Spartan super-soldiers in Halo. Except that the picture shows an Elite alien soldier, which are actually the Spartans’ (and humanity’s) main enemies in the series.

Fun fact, cricket didn’t actually become that massively popular with the broad Indian public until decades after independence. The national sport was (and technically still is) field hockey, a sport where India won consecutive Olympic golds through the 1930s-1950s.

I loved Rogue One when it came out but then when I watched it right after finishing Andor S2 it was just so much worse in comparison. Still probably a Top 3 Star Wars movie though, better than any of the prequels or sequels.

Solar, wind, and nuclear can replace electricity - but for most of the other critical products we rely on (fertilizer, cement, etc.) we’ll need hydrocarbons for the foreseeable future.

You put very cogently exactly my thoughts that I struggled to get at in my stumbling Letterboxd review. A [small ‘c’] conservative criticism of the far right is exactly correct.

We are generally fine with unfairness during the game where the ref messes up a tough call in the moment, but unfairness *between* games when administrators have ample time and information to correct their mistake strikes us as extremely bizarre. Cultural difference I guess.

Though genuine abolitionism did become very popular through the course of the war, especially among the soldiers. It’s why the Radical Republicans swept the 1866 election.

The *entire* stock market lost half its value in 2008-09, and the economy recovered within a few years. A single stock crashing is not going to cause a “century of global economic depression.”
