Most of the public aren't politics geeks like we are. They're paying attention to other things. There's pretty much always a lag of two to three weeks between a political scandal breaking and any significant impact on the poll numbers.

Fair enough, but I approach these things from the opposite direction, by arguing for what I think is the right approach, rather than reading runes and critiquing hints. Personally I favour the care levy, but I'm open to other approaches.

The steady decline in the Reform vote continues, but the headline figures can't factor in tactical voting. At a constituency by constituency level it will be pretty clear who is the most likely 'stop Farage' candidate, even if it's a man with a bin on his head.
