Money out of politics. Money in your pocket. Medicare for All. Michigan... We won. I am so proud to be your Democratic nominee for US Senate. Let's win in November.

I grew up in MI and while Dems there are divided, Mike Rogers blamed election fraud for losing the Senate race to Slotkin, appointed 2020 election deniers and has already called on cops to intimidate Detroit voters in November. Here’s hoping my home state can unite and send his ass back to Florida.

I’m sincerely sorry, I never intended to dismiss your feelings and apologize if that’s how it came across. You have every right to be upset. I understand your perspective and was simply sharing mine.

She never did any of these things, you’ve decided you’re going to hate this person based on your own assumptions. I want Darializa to prove you wrong and govern well for all of us.

I don’t think it’s fine. At a minimum it shows bad judgment and she can be criticized for that. You think she wants all Israelis dead and I see no evidence of that. Let’s hope she governs well and can win you over.

Why are you saying she celebrates the death of civilians; do you have evidence of her doing that at this protest? From what I read about the race Espaillat burned a lot of bridges with Black voters in his district, hasn’t really been present in his district and takes a ton of corporate PAC money.

I see an Afro Latina woman whose father was a truck driver and whose mother was a case worker fighting for the working class and progressive values. She deserves a chance to represent her constituents and deserves criticism as warranted if she’s bad at her job.

Ok but individuals aren’t responsible for the chants and slogans of others at protests, I don’t believe in guilt by association. If there’s proof she verbally supported the slaughter of Israelis at this rally then I condemn her action in the strongest terms.

Knew that 10/7 would trigger a devastating Israeli response that would result in thousands being killed in Gaza and it was important to her to oppose horrific retribution that deepens the cycle of violence in the region. I agree with you on the awfulness of Platner.

Darializa Chevalier said she ended up voting for Harris. She did attend a 10/8 Palestinian rally which is bad optics by itself but I haven’t seen anything to suggest that she supported the 10/7 massacre. When asked about it in a recent interview, she said that from her work in Palestinian advocacy..

I’m not deflecting. Who do these fringe group of activists or random individuals that have an absolutely maximalist stance on I/P really represent though? They’ve existed in every movement. The best way to make them irrelevant is ignoring them and not give them the attention and platform they crave.

This is a sad state of affairs if we’ve given up on half our country and are ok excusing their increasing levels of bigotry and prejudice since Trump came to power because it’s inevitable and we’re not condemning it strongly every single time and fighting back.

I wish people were as upset about Bruce Blakeman the NY GOP nominee for Governor saying Brad Lander is a traitor to his people and would have volunteered to be a concentration camp guard back in Nazi Germany. I see almost no condemnation from the media of something so absolutely vile and offensive.

Who are you referring to if you don’t mind me asking? Random activists and business owners? They don’t represent anyone besides themselves. I/P is a litmus test because it’s a unique situation where the Democratic voter base is split on an issue. We’re on the same page on nearly everything else.

The 2024 election will go down in infamy for destroying our democracy. We could’ve elected an experienced legislator and prosecutor but instead Latinos whose families and friends are now being terrorized by ICE, an immature Gen Z and naive white Leftists decided they were ok risking Trump 2.0.

Sorry my last post was phrased poorly. I support the leftist economic vision but am not willing to simply excuse a candidate with major character flaws and a long history of bigotry just because he resonates with working-class concerns. Talarico can sell the same message without any of the baggage.

Trump changed the red lines on civility in this country and there seems to have been a backlash to cancel culture and identity politics by working class men and Gen Z so now unfortunately combating racism, homophobia and antisemitism has been sidelined in favor of class solidarity which I support.

I’ve come to accept that I’ll never understand why people are just ok looking past someone with such a scandalous past but Mainers I follow claim he’s a changed man and that his town halls have been inspirational. I’m expecting another Fetterman but I’m open to being pleasantly surprised.

The non Lebanese/Palestinian leftists who voted for Stein, Trump or abstained from voting in 2024 should be admonished but Harris lost a lot of the Gen Z, Hispanic and Asian voting share compared to Biden and Obama. The border crisis, economy and misogyny played a much bigger role in her loss imo.

I believe in redemption and that personal growth for all humans is possible and should be lauded but that’s not a gamble voters should have to make for an elected political representative. I’d rather take a risk on someone inexperienced but inspiring than on someone whose character is questionable.

A Maine resident I DM’d with the other day told me that Platner was a troubled young man like most young military vets who rejoin society and meeting his now wife transformed him. She said he’s now a changed man who’s found his calling in life as a voice for the everyday American and the oppressed.

Yeah, Susan Abulhawa is a straight up anti-Semite and she shouldn’t be platformed by anyone. I’m glad that when it was found out that Zohran’s wife did illustrations for her book and they tried to implicate her, Zohran said her comments were repulsive despite pushback from other Leftists.

The other option is an outside ICC or an UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry investigation but Israel is refusing cooperation, entry to the country and denying access to witness and victim testimony due to these bodies accusing them of bias so don’t think this will happen anytime soon

There needs to be a full independent investigation of Oct 7th done by an impartial Israeli board of experts appointed by the judiciary but the court system is under threat by Bibi’s coalition to install loyalists favorable to him and the govt is citing the ongoing war as a deterrent for an inquiry.

I think Grim is a great investigative journalist and like DropSite News’s international coverage but he definitely has some ideological biases like everyone else. The mass rape claims on Oct 7th/use of Hannibal Directive/what happened to the Bibas family has been very politicized unfortunately.

Meretz is the Israeli party to support but they have no viable path to victory as the Israeli Left is fringe with no influence. With polling showing Israeli youth are more right wing, I’ve lost hope for a 2SS and think that only a complete global boycott of Israel can force it to make concessions.

No one cares if someone’s personally a billionaire if that person’s willing to fight for a progressive platform that ends tax loopholes, taxes investment and corporate at higher rates and increases spending on public services like Steyer does. Not a fan of Platner but that’s a Maine issue.

Maybe I’m biased because I don’t relate to him in any way but don’t get the appeal. He went to a $75K/year prep school where he got kicked out for behavioral issues, worked as a mercenary at Blackwater and reinvented himself as a oyster farmer that’s apparently a blue collar working class Mainer.

Constructing shelters requires materials which the blockade prevented the flow of due to being designated “dual use” items. If civilians flooded the tunnels Hamas would’ve been accused of using them as human shields anyway. The reality is Bibi got his excuse to annihilate the Gaza Strip on Oct 7th.

Nishant Surapaneni @lesdiablesbleus.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
Hamas’ actions, while morally bankrupt, didn’t happen in a vacuum. The Abraham Accords threatened to sideline the Palestinian cause and subject them to an eternity of living in apartheid and occupation if the status quo didn’t change. They felt like they had to act or be forever marginalized.

Tunnels were first used for small-scale smuggling to break the blockade that prevented imports of essential goods to Gaza. Before evacuating the Strip, Jewish settlers destroyed half of the greenhouses there and IDF operations a few years later severely damaged a lot of the remaining agriculture.

Recent polling in the West Bank shows 66-75% support for Hamas while support dropped in Gaza due to the impact of the war but it’s over 50% there too. Unless another group thats not corrupt steps up and is allowed to be relevant by Israel, people will pick the default option that’s at least trying.

Marginalizing the PA at the turn of the century was a huge mistake by Israel. They thought that they could just manage the conflict by kicking the can down the road but by discrediting the PA they allowed Hamas to become the voice of the Palestinians.

The extent to which they did can be debated but a group of insurgents can’t exactly fight a modern military superpower without resorting to unconventional and often immoral tactics. The hopelessness of the situation gives extremists power since they’re the only ones resisting their occupiers.

More stuff coming out on Platner, this is insane how is anyone supporting this Nazi sympathizer? He’s been explicitly racist towards Black people, blamed sexual assault victims for being in situations where they could be raped and sat in a podcast with a Holocaust denier and smiled along with him.

I’ve noticed a lot of ex-Soviet and Mizrahi Jews vote Republican too. Is that because Republicans and a strongman like Trump is more likely to protect Israel or do they have more conservative economic and social values as well?
