This summer, I wrote a narrative bible for a future game by @maestrocinetik.bsky.social: Spires and Rust! Players are supposed to be able to pick it up, so I’m allowed to show you my work, and I made sure it was the best-looking and easiest-to-read document I’ve ever produced.

S&R is a UI-based multiplayer RPG
by Maestro Cinetik.
It features a retrofuturistic city-State
based on the 1875–1939 era, in the
genre of a steampunk failed utopia.

The Far Side
The hidden theoretical district of the

Pitch
Ekphrasis is a utopian city in the middle
of the dead Apulean Sea, founded by the
legendary Sophotects two centuries ago.
Behind its mystical aura and glorious con-
tribution to the modern industrial world,
unprecedented calamities are brewing: the
rust is devouring the city, weakening its
towering monuments, and spreading an
epidemic of tetanus. Meanwhile, the Queen
of Moonland is planning to invade the city,
as she believes it was built on a moon rock
that holds the mysteries of her ancestors.
And as if it wasn’t enough, the local merce-
naries are plotting to loot the city and get
off before it gets too dangerous…
The five most influential factions of the
city must unite to face all these disasters…
while trying to push their agenda. Can they
get along enough to save the city? Can they
take advantage of the situation to turn Ek-
phrasis into their own, opposed visions of a
utopia? Or will they hurtle toward its de-
struction by their vaulting ambitions?
