OH DAMN I just caught something cool that even the Void Stranger wiki doesn't talk about, I'm sure I'm not the first person to catch this, but given what else we know about the scene, I think it's fully intentional awesome leitmotif work. (Spoilers for something typically found near the game's end)

White pixel font text with the word SPOILERS in a bright red on a black background. They say:

Void Stranger SPOILERS in alt text!! Please do not click unless you are OK w/ spoilers for the things listed in the above post!!

The text below is not part of the image, and was put here as prevention against open spoilers.

SPOILERS BELOW:

I just now realized that the track "Forlorn" that plays when Gor's body starts chasing you if you linger around in the White Void too long is just a twisted, slowed version of the arpeggios in Lax Lullaby, the theme of Gor's Domain.

Hey Canopy, hey bestie? This is a really fucking weird literal thing to put in your job application, even if it is something that is technically true in the "men often overreport their own skillset" sense. Also, if AI use is a job requirement but **SQL use is a recommended????** 🤔🤔🤔

Part of a job application that reads:

Bonus Points If You Have
Experience with SQL (writing or optimizing queries/scripts for data validation or troubleshooting).
Familiarity with SaaS environments or data migration tools.
Background working with accounting or financial data.
Prior experience supporting software implementations or client onboarding.

And then under that, an italicized line that reads:

We know many women do not apply for a job if they don't perfectly fit the description. We want you to apply anyway.

I don't think it's necessarily fully intentional, but I think it's super interesting where you hear this passage and what comes directly after, given the full quote of this excerpt from Inferno:

An excerpt from Dante's Inferno that reads:

“The sighs arose from sorrow without torments,
out of the crowds-the many multitudes-
of infants and of women and of men.
The kindly master said: "Do you not ask
who are these spirits whom you see before you?

I'd have you know, before you go ahead,
they did not sin; and yet, though they have merits,
that's not enough, because they lacked baptism,
the portal of the faith that you embrace.

And if they lived before Christianity,
they did not worship God in fitting ways;
and of such spirits I myself am one.

For these defects, and for no other evil,
we now are lost and punished just with this:
we have no hope and yet we live in longing."

Gotta say, this is the first time I am seeing this angle on a company's job description and that's real interesting that this is becoming a selling point on the business end. Maybe in some ways we are hitting the other side of that parabola.

Part of a job listing that says:

Full job description
Are you a TRUE Medical Transcriptionist? You know, doing the real stuff, from scratch, using excellent grammar and punctuation, the kind who is serious about his/her work and cares about quality?

Is AI taking over your job?

[this part of the text is redacted] for true MTs, specifically for evening and overnight hours. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL AT LEAST 10 P.M. PACIFIC TIME. We have no openings for morning/days, so if that is your only availability we unfortunately cannot consider you. At least 1 weekend day is required (each week).

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a LOT of things to me as a kinkster, but above all else to me, it was sort of a litany against the things in the world that would reframe, discolor, or steal your personal joy. I saw it at a time I really needed to see it.

Two characters from the movie "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma" are walking in front of a clearly painted background of a forest in the dawn. They are both covered in blood, and the woman leading is beckoning behind her back for the woman following to grab her hand. The woman following is looking at the leader's hand intently, bringing her hand closer to grab it. Her clothes specifically are stained with blood so much that it exposes the curves of her butt and breasts.

Your Result:

LSTR units are replikas suited for combat and repair, however they can be employed for administrative purposes. Significantly, they are require virtually no socialisation, and will not destabilise if left alone for long periods of time. Conversely, they will destabilise if befriended, and exposure to media such as movies and music will also contribute to destabilisation.

First crack @ a mockup, an hour in before pain flared and I had to stop. I visually LOVE stuff like Downwell and the Virtual Boy so I wanted to try this style. Thought process is it's generally 2-color with a dark shade and white as the "accent" + swappable palettes. Unfinished atm. No AI used.

A mockup of a fake shoot-em-up game with a sci-fi space setting.
The entire mockup is done in vivid red, dark red, and black/white. There is an ominous biotech-themed space ship entering from the top and a warning screen announcing a boss enemy's arrival.

The warning screen reads:
AN ENEMY APPROACHES
V-021 'ALMAGEST'

with accent text around it saying
IGNITE YOUR VAINGLORIOUS HEART!!
NONE::WILL_MOURN THEIR PASSING

A score and name readout shows in the HUD on the left side of the screen and on the right, an unfinished control console, a "craft" (lives) indicator with 3 pips, a combo meter (currently at 6), and a bar spanning the entire right side.

On the bottom right is the pilot's callsign, named "LENNA", and a ship, named "T-32 'ASTRAL SPARROW'".

Frankly, this kind of just assures this email won't be read from a PR dept perspective, but it will at least contribute to the volume of the lodged complaints. It's definitely what I'm thinking internally, though. What a shit decision this was. Fwiw, here is what I went with.

an email from Lenna to management@gamesdonequick.com, CCing its direct owners and other partners.

The body of the text:

Dear GDQ staff,

After 10 years of following GDQ on Twitch, multiple donations, running watch and donation parties, and watching it for even longer since GDQ was a tiny operation, I am fully unfollowing GDQ from all channels. I find it very difficult to believe that GDQ was unaware of SNK's involvement with Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud and the royal family of Saudi Arabia, perpetrators of crimes against humanity that your main donation affiliate, Médecins Sans Frontières, has actively worked to assist people from.

I strongly urge GDQ to return any money given as part of this partnership and reconsider sponsorships down the road, and I respectfully request a followup to this email if possible when GDQ has formed a statement about what action plan, if any, will result from this.

Thank you for your time.

I was EXTREMELY KIND about my side of what I have posted about this issue, because it's not my safety he is threatening and it's not something I want to draw out. But fine, we can play that game, man. This conversation, in which about 1 hour in I sent "no means no", went on for several more hours.

Chat bubbles:
A: Lenna I would just like a second chance and I will never make Purrcelain uncomfortable again
B: No means no, man. Get out of my DMs.
A: I just enjoy being a part of your community and I don't want that to end over a drawing
I am autistic I have a poor sense of social etiquette. In the context I genuinely misunderstood.
Please honest to god I did not mean to upset or offend her

A: I promise that now I've been made aware I can stop that behaviour
I don't wish to make excuses I just wish to reach a mutual understanding with you about this
B: All you're talling me at this moment is you do not know that no means no. You understand that, right?
A: It wasn't explicitly clear in my mind that it meant she didn't wish to see it all at the time. I had a momentary lapse in judgment in not spoilering the image

An extremely belated icon vs. user, bc so many other cuties did it too 💛 #lenna.selfie

Lenna's PNG rig. She has long, messy brown hair, simple circular glasses, and three layers for her top: a black jacket with khaki accents and pullstrings, a yellow v-neck sweater, and a black high cut shirt with loose shoestring-style ties at the top.

A black and white photo of Lenna. She is looking up at the camera with a very faint smile and hooded eyes. She has very dark eye bags under her eyes filling under her glasses. They are accented because her glasses are still halfway in sunglass mode. She is wearing a striped dog collar with a thick buckle, and a lower cut polka dot tress. Her hair is falling around her shoulders, obscuring them.

Lenna Covenstead, an elf-like Elezen woman in Final Fantasy XIV. She is in Gridania, a town in the forest, but the background is heavily blurred. She is in the right side third of the camera. Her head is tilted up and her eyes are closed, as she raises her long left arm causing pink swirls of magic to surround her. Her right hand is at her side, holding a simple wooden staff. She has black hair with deep, dark red gradient highlights, and her hair is short, falling around the bottom of her neck. She has red face paint in ornate shapes across both of her eyes like an eye mask. She is wearing an outfit that is primarily pastel pink, with a yellow cloth sash and a sheer white shoulder-veil. All of her gear is accented with pieces of burnished gold chains and plates near her chest. She is wearing a large white and pastel pink ribbon tied ornately around her neck.
