Naoki Hamaguchi: There is definitely an environmentalist message in the game. I think that is one of the original game’s themes. Environmentalism is [still] a major theme [in Revelation], but the core of Final Fantasy VII has always to me been about the cycle of life, and the conflict born from siphoning that life energy as a resource. It was important to preserve that core in the remake.
