Biked to my parents for dinner with cousins tonight, and had someone call me a “cheater” on the bike path for being on an electric assist Tern ebike (while going 11mph) with a dog on it lol Did I sign up for some rules-bound race I’m unaware of? I thought I was just living my own damn life 😂

Do you have an article or more you could share about how it works in Paris? We're having this same debate in Chicago. Lyft operates publicly-owned bikeshare & some scooters, with competition from dockless Lime. But Lyft is operating at a loss, now trying to negotiate for more monopoly area.

If it wasn’t so recently tied up with the billionaire plan to move the Sox people probably wouldn’t be so mad. But Amtrak didn’t do a great job with transparency & partnerships before the first meeting so a lot of misinformation circulated in the vacuum. Now the anger is hard to combat with reason

Those two (George Blakemore and the other lady I forget her name) are always at city council meetings, and it doesn’t really matter what the agenda topic is, they use it as an excuse to grind their own axes

Our building has been all electric since 1973, nobody's raised that as an issue and we've never thought about it. We happen to have a spare battery bank, foldable solar panel and propane stove for camping, so we'd be fine, but I'd be more worried about losing the fridge food than the kitchen stove.

Also the city is currently selling off these circled parcels of land, just imagine the trail-oriented development somebody could design there!
A red circle drawn around two triangles of land: one between Lawrence, the Metra MDN tracks and the Weber Spur. The second is south of the Kennedy & Wilson

Looks like the current proposal would start by seafood city, so we should provide comment telling them to finish the connection over the Edens & Cicero to Lawrence & maybe a ramp down at Wilson. Someday I hope for a ped tunnel under the Kennedy at Wilson too 🙏
Good maps screenshot of the 90/94 junction area between Wilson and Carmen around Cicero. The Weber Spur embankment continues across the Edens before merging with the Metra tracks at Wilson, but the current plan would have the usable trail end on the east side of the highway by Elston and the Seafood city supermarket in the top right area of the image

The proposed Weber Spur trail would convert ~ 2 mi of abandoned UP rail line into multi-use trail, from Elston & Kimberly to Devon & Springfield. Connect to existing bicycle routes: Elston bike lane, Bryn Mawr bike lanes, Labagh Woods, North Branch Trail, Sauganash Trail, and UP Recreation Path.

My partner’s always been terrified of needles, but we had a nurse friend help with his first couple injections til he got the hang of it, now it’s just part of life. Nine years on T! He tried the gel recently but there was just so much of it, he said it felt more labor intensive than the shot lol

Day 4 of #WeekWithoutDriving After some sunday housework & stuff, I biked to dance class, ☘️ and picked up a bag of rice on the way back. 🍚 Then took the dog for a romp before heading back home to start dinner. Funny bike pair we grabbed today, would you believe the dog can ride on both bikes?

Have y’all been to check out the new protected bike lane on Bryn Mawr? It’s awesome!! There were cars parked in it last week, but they figured it out by today. Can’t believe they installed this right after it stopped being part of my husband’s commute to work lol

Globally, the transit systems that have most successfully rebounded from COVID are those that leaned into growing ridership for other types of trips (not just commutes), now that work from home is a bigger share of the mix. Weekends, evenings, shopping, shows, school, etc.
010
Lena G R @lenagr.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
It’s a nationwide problem, all coming to a head at the same time because the Covid relief dollars are running out, ridership isn’t all back since more people work from home, and most states have only done stop-gap measures so far. IL NITA & NYC congestion pricing have so far solved it best

The irony is that a lot of true civility is stuff the right has written off as woke. Showing basic respect for other people by not using racial or gendered slurs, not disparaging women with sexual innuendo, etc. But to them, civility means: bow to white men and shut up when we treat you like shit.

You wouldn’t know it from the first photo, but that’s a bike lane! Supposedly the city’s main connection between the loop and lakefront trail, but I can’t with good conscience actually recommend the Randolph cave
