My roommate's depression is very different from mine. His is a daily deep sadness, a tiredness. Mine is a painful nostalgia and longing. He wishes for what exists now to be different, I wish to return to somewhere that never existed. I enjoy comparing feelings with others. Krita and Blender:

I've been working on trying to make a woody "burnt" looking brush with Krita's engine and was comparing it to my usual workhorse and similar blender compositing. I think it's getting somewhere but it's not where I want it yet. This is the result of todays testing!

I recently ordered an old-style fretless gourd banjo for a lower minstrel tuning, but the tailpiece snapped along the grain on the first day. A new one should be in soon and I can't wait to play it. It's so exciting! Maybe I can show it off here after I get it all tuned up.

All the gen AI talk is tiring, so I want to share some REAL pictures from a REAL human with a camera (me!). There are so many wonderful little critters out there to be adored. Taking some time to go outside and be away from everything is good for the mind in my expirience, inspiring even.

9 hoursish total time over a few days for this one. Many things I will do differently from now on and I learned a lot so i'm happy with it. Originally there was going to be lots of other elements but I was struggling to draw transparent objects so i'll have to work on that.

I have this friend who licks the sides of drinks when they drip after he opens them. He has no idea how it makes me feel and ill never tell him. It's midnight and my blood pressure is incredibly low and I can't draw or think and the weird thoughts are uninhibited forgive me.

On and off scraps from the past few weeks. There's some random stuff, requests, PCs/NPCs from an RPG I host. I really enjoy playing with difficult poses even when they don't work out. Tip: the easiest way to draw hands and the second eye is to hide them. Problem solved.

I have weird dreams about aliens and their long lives in the cosmos, exploring what I only wish I could. The myriad expiriences. Such a wonderful but unobtainable prospect, a great comfort in the expanse beyond our worlds and beyond the "horizon". This one has a great future ahead.

Poor dragon is having nightmares but Mr. Wooly is there to help. Some dragons aren't meant for a life of pillaging. It's time for a new background. This was actually quite frustrating to draw, I won't pretend it wasn't, but that's art sometimes. 99/100 times it's very theraputic :/

Sometimes we don't want to cuddle. Sometimes we do handstands in the rain. And that's okay. Sometimes we disappoint others and ourselves.

I see him in my dreams in an empty desert. There is silence only other than the wind. There is a comforting drone. His presence feels like an escape from mortality and an invitation to eurphoric eternity among him and his people. It's a shame that we are born with more desires than this life.

Today's art, I think some of the objects are too detailed and break the harmony of the cubic/square style. Next time I will try to not overthink some objects and get their identity across without making them as detailed.

Geometric shapes will never not be fun. Every now and then I get the urge to practice semi-realism and go back to my roots in digital painting with some lazy subsurface scattering and reflections. Honestly painterly feels a lot more forgiving than hard-inked tooning imo but takes a lot longer.

A friend suggested that I draw an otter or axolotl. I presented him with an axolotter. So, I figured out how to add tapering to my custom inkbrush and tried out some gentle weighted line-smoothing and I think it helped infinitely with inking in a simpler sticker-style.

These other wizards have "great weapons" to defend their towers like subservient dragons and floating crystals. Not I, I am a plushmancer. Behold my laundry golems. Fear my giant "snakes". Run from the ghosts that haunt the numerous empty delivery boxes that fill the halls! Adventurers beware!

I've been straying from the standard brushes I set up in a Krita class, started playing with the idea of making my own. The change is wonderful. My brush for sketching is smooth and almost painterly and my standard workhorse round brush has some texture now. I also made some fun textures.

Bing Bong from Inside Out 2015 I remember bawling my eyes out when I first saw the movie. I don't usually do fan art but I really like him. For a relatively childish movie, this character faced some pretty severe grief and existential crises. The idea of being forgotten and no longer existing etc.

To gaze apon it is to face infinity, the final frontier Been playing with lighting and character designs. I think I've learned I don't like sharp/clean inking or "toon"/anime eyes. I've spent the last week practicing hands, feet, and eyes and I think they are closer to what I envision in my head.
