I've spent a couple of days kind of meditating on this, and I feel like there is this unfounded presumption on the part of a lot of furries that "furry music" is a monolithic thing created explicitly to appeal to an equally monolithic furry audience and that magnifies their individual disappointment

We had a Mandela coffee table book, which I remember being a source of conversation. Its probably pretty hard to talk about apartheid to your child, but he did his best. My parents love concert movies, and the thing that really stuck with me is watching Peter Gabriel play Biko for the first time.

I grew up listening to Peter Gabriel, Johnny Clegg, UB40, and a host of black South African artists I wish I could remember now. Music none of my peers listened to, it wasn't on the radio and truth be told, I didn't always understand or like it, but my dad loved it. And certainly, it grew on me.

With all the *stuff* happening I've been thinking a lot about my dad. He grew up during the anti-apartheid movement, living in Ontario, before the internet. From what he's told me, there was two things that that inspired him to be anti-apartheid: News about Nelson Mandela, and *music*.

Answering medical forms is always really hard because questions like "how bothersome is your back pain" are subjective and "do you have difficulty dressing yourself" is also vague. For example: it feels like someone is stabbing my hips when I put socks on, but I can put my fursuit on just fine?
