i usually like a creator's whole body of work if i do bc they drag their motifs and feelings across everything so i felt weird being ambivalent about some of fujimotos works and the theory i had is that he's in the wrong industry. his manga are movie storyboards. he fucking hates being a mangaka

look back is the opposite of a love letter to manga. called the protags after himself to really hone in that they're both different sides of him. the one who had joy in manga dies. the one whose main motivation was to get better than someone else is miserable / gives up on it in a better timeline

goodbye eri is a love letter to movies. it exhibits how much time fujimoto spends into interacting with the medium, how it changed his life, how he thinks about the legacy it lets you leave behind, how it can convey kindness and how he silently hides his feelings and the true "eri" inbetween lines

got it during sale and i expected it to be a lowkey experience that was more about the art and subtlety than anything else like many others (and i love those!) but after playing through i definitely think it deserved to get more money from me than what i paid

not but for real; it's a very lovely and gentle experience and really like all the little bits of love that was very visibly put into the game. from the main screen interactions, the credits format, to the actual cookbook that you have assembled by the end of the game. also the fizzy outlines hehehe

finished the needy girl overdose anime! the direction is very fascinating. you can tell that they barely had the budget for actual animation and had to compensate with a lot of still shots but due to how conceptual the series was made it worked out. the special visual sequences are also all good v

very rare for a shounen mangaka to have a debuting work that polarizes his discography and then be able to have an equally good follow up series but i'm rooting for the man. i liked what he did for mha. i hope his audience shifts or grows tf up though

don't really want to die on a hill for an (ex-)disney show but i did like the direction of it for the same reason as, like, descendants. i'm saving billie's fits for design refs cuz they did a really good job putting her into fits & hair styles that young girls would be in awe of

an aspect i liked but is completely out of their hands is that the cast from waverly place actually looks visibly older but still being recognizable as their og characters due to their behaviour (good writing!) while the icarly cast honestly looks like they barely aged a day lol

icarly sequel series in comparison is simply good bc it has no involvement of dan schneider. it's an entirely different series by feel and humour and look. you wouldn't watch it if it wasn't for nostalgia but it also doesn't offer the og feeling for obv reasons

complaints feel really forced tbh. the og two siblings play important roles but neither of them is the mc. billie is. the ogs are there to bridge the audience. limit on cameos is also good to not divert attention too much away from billie's story + avoids the show from turning into nostalgia bait tv

watched the sequel and it's the only 2010s children tv show that actually worked in my opinion. the humour aligns, the visuals align, the writing aligns, it literally felt like another regular season of waverly place.
