translation for the notes: • the work-environment must be safe for everyone • no screws loose (ha...play on words.)

anshel trostloski works for an insurance company focusing on worker's safety and accidents. to sum up, his nerves are not made for these tasks and his colleagues don't make things easier... luckily, his subconscious, dear esther and the skies over the industries roofs offer places to escape to.

a rare instance of anshel inviting esther over to his dirty little room to have a smoke. since he lives in a communal apartment, with a landlady as strict as a warden, her entrance had to be moved to...through the window.

& i am so happy to hear you like shlimazel, coming from such a dedicated comic-artist like you!! maybe anshel and esther have encountered the ancestors of your project during their days... that would be fun

i made this artwork in my art-course through décalcomanias by pressing paint onto a piece of paper - and afterwards drawing into it to highlight the motives that were created by coincidence.

esther, being his companion and hold during distress, has adapted to her life in the sky and appears in her star-shape frequently, lighting anshel the way back to reality, while he serves her company in the distant, lonely sky.

jeremej @leichenmaler.bsky.social · 04/03/2025

anshel is a disturbed being, having frequent nightmares and loosing the threshold of dreams and reality. this results in him being swallowed by the sky, whether in the literal or metaphorical sense.

i used aleatory art-techniques - procedures of art, that build on coincidences, with planning being not necessary. they were often used by artists of the surrealism movement, like max ernst. frottage is a process of taking rubbings with coal or graphite from an uneven, structured object, like a coin
