Damit geht die Leidensgeschichte des iranische Volkes, dessen mutiger Widerstand gegen das Mullah-Regime blutig unterdrückt wurde, weiter. Es bleibt zu hoffen. Aktuell gibt es neben vielen Verlierern nur einen Gewinner: das iranische Regime, wenngleich es geschwächt ist.

#Meinung Die Bedingungen des #Iran für die Öffnung der Straße von Hormuz wie etwa Reparationszahlungen können die #USA nicht akzeptieren. Die #Trump-Administration hat sich mit diesem Krieg in eine Sackgasse manövriert, aus der sie schwer wieder herauskommt.

9. August: Internationaler Tag der indigenen Völker. 476 Mio. indigene Menschen weltweit, 90 Länder, 5.000 Kulturen - und mit den Sámi ein indigenes Volk mitten in Europa. Auch Deutschlands koloniale Verantwortung (Herero und Nama) gehört an diesem Tag zur Einordnung dazu. #IndigenousPeoplesDay

It accompanies 🇯🇵 writer Aoyama Chizuku on her travels through 🇹🇼, alongside her local interpreter Ông Tshian-hòh. Yang's novel is the first book translated from Taiwanese Mandarin to win the Int. Booker Prize and my first dive into modern 🇹🇼 literature - a detailed book review will follow soon.

Due to the fact that China remains Germany’s biggest trading partner (with an overall trading volume of roughly 250 billion Euro), it remains to be seen whether this more constructive approach of the German federal government will hold up in an era of mounting geo-economic pressure.

Special focus was placed on access to minerals and rare earths. On the Chinese side, protective EU trade barriers against Chinese steel imports cause offence. China’s Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao labels these protective measures as having a “strongly protectionist slant“.
