I live in AZ, so that has a different place BUT it shouldn’t. We haven’t progressed because there’s an MLK holiday. In fact, I think the holiday and the whitewashing that comes with it has allowed white folk to weaponize Dr. King’s words. So, my point still stands, including MLK Day.

When I say “representation,” I mean it quite literally. At a time when Black folks were asking police to not kill us, we got a federal holiday, like that was a meaningful response. Visibility/recognition with no power is useless.
