Dunno that, any /pol thread on BlueSky seems to have like a tenth of reply guys who seem no better. By authoritarian standards he's been pretty mild, lot of things he might have gotten away with given limp congress he didn't try. Like you can post this with no risk of being tracked and executed.

Maybe the nerds set up the grok bot on X so that it answer within the belief system of guy who did the @ query based on their account history. That way, Elon see what he wants to hear without having to actually de-woke the foundation model, which is hard to do and would kill benchmark results.

Context dependent? You get a normal answer for most questions like that if you start from scratch. grok.com/share/c2hhcm...

One could argue on the line "should Intel do laptops?" that the house product is just a demo to bootstrap the ecosystem of API consumers, so it need not/should not be too good.

These cost are more or less the same in the sticks and in the middle of a trendy major city, and rents vary wildly. In a popular city the rent is dominated by the implied cost of renting the raw land the property is built on.

The frictions of selling a home, while higher than moving between rentals, are considerably lower than than that of "selling" a rent-controlled contract.

Trained for €200K worth of power? Sounds reassuringly cheap for the published results.

I'd expect the "isolation" to be almost free for environments of that kind (every VM the same), like small overhead compared to running the same workload using unix accounts on a single OS instance per server. If the retail use being envisaged is mostly "chat, with cron jobs" looks pretty doable.

Nice thing with AI programming: it's easier to make single-file script with no dependencies. Took a few minutes to remove requests and BeautifulSoup from a little web scrapper Python script. The project-subset Soup clone is 120 lines. A "developer comfort" wrapper like requests was pointless here.

Watching from a distance it's hilarious: tech CEOs and tech CEO haters are exactly the same people, the difference is just that they bounced slightly differently in the career pinball of life.

Well someone or something has to do it. Without rationing demand for healthcare is essentially infinite.

In the past TODOs were often used where a decision should have been made (fix, document as known limitation, etc). Code smell of sorts. Maybe it's a good thing that AI forces our hand (even without outside contributors, TODOs are too likely to trigger passing agents to be kept unattended).

Doubt it because the primary aim of submitter is not to push facts or data but to get citation/publication points, because university admin calculates their pay based on it. Page count is not an input in pay calculations, so no point in maxing it.

Reasonable ask, but the institutional infra capable of implementing it (planet-wide!) simply does not exist and cannot realistically be built; and half-baked attempts will impair the work on mitigations; like try and control the physical side of bio, improve cyber security.

It has been that reported in agent swarms (where an instance of a model prompts new instances) it would sometimes be rude to the subagents. Maybe that?

I kinda think that grappling with modern ML turns you at least a little insane. If you aren't at least a little crazy it's because you have not engaged with it enough

Anthropomorphic language dilutes our "don't kill same species" instinct, which is perhaps something we shouldn't throw away too casually.

Capital intensive? Surely step 1 of any AI-based cybercrime is getting to free tokens mode (to reduce traceability if nothing else).

Aren't the people who do that returning the books after the shooting, like they do for fashion tiktoks? (in which case it wouldn't add up to much in book industry revenue.)

And it is even worse for ex-war GDP (domestic spending on war stuff is in GDP, the cost of destroyed refineries etc is not). (It's also true of increased military spending in NATO members, but at a much smaller scale.)

If I were you I'd ask a bot to write a custom ebook-to-pdf tool that renders the ebooks to fit the screen size, reflowing the text around the dead spot. 😎

To be a big problem it needs to be very organised and determined, like it tries to disable all water plants and grid infra at continent or planet scale. Random rogue AIs breaking the odd plant one at a time is survivable; indeed would help make systems more robust, also against human villains.

Is that a good example? Small files made sense when dudes were looking for stuff in a filesystem with ls and cat. Now you ask questions to find stuff doesn't matter much how it's stored on disk. Want to see the structure? Ask "show me the structure".

Agree though my pay estimates are 100k for the algorithmists (hard to learn but huge supply relative to demand) and 2x minimum wage for prompt technicians (many non techie types can learn it quick).

Are there studies showing that the institution that are "suffering" of "brain drain" underperform? My hunch is that the next lot who replace the leavers will perform similarly. Top talent's talent is often in the politics of getting into the lucky "seats" which is zero sum for the employer.

Maybe a revival of separate interface/implementation languages would be a good idea in the AI age: where we write or review the interfaces and bots do the implementations we don't look at outside emergencies.

Derisking can be done within equity too. Cash has lost some its cash character lately. It's a bit of a problem with these charts: as asset classes change in nature, the time series based on a static definition compounds small errors. Same with CAPE ratio which assumes static corporate lifecycles.
