Yes. The Roscoe one felt the most organic because they were at least put into a plausible scenario for it to happen with the already natural attraction, but the others felt odd given the timing of what was happening. The last season’s timing was ridiculous, but also made sense as manipulation.

I worry it’s a pretense to give her a love interest which is at best a distraction on a show like this. Most of Reacher’s romances are silly and unnatural in the context of the show in my opinion. At best they feel crammed in for sex appeal.

This was the thing I really didn’t like about the show. Going into it, I liked the idea that she was a quirky, asexual badass. I don’t think they even did a satisfying job of explaining the “why” she became so extreme. Trauma can manifest differently in different people, but it felt very strained.

This happened to 3 girls my first week of college also by the football fraternity in the same year that I almost wondered if your friend was one of them, then reminded myself this is so common it’s incredibly unlikely. The only punishment was the frat couldn’t have pledges for one semester.

But yes, it’s very different. Most Americans only have an idea of what they want to major in in college. Many people change their minds after a semester or year or 2 which is why many students will do a lot of gen ed requirements in the first two years since they have to do them anyway to graduate.

Semester is half a school year or ~4 months. I do think it’s good for people to be exposed to different subjects and it can give them time to decide what to major in through exploration, but there’s something to be said about being focused and going in depth on the subject you’re there to study.

It’s simultaneously good to have students exposed to different subjects, but as a student paying and often going into debt, it can feel like a scam to force a bunch of “unnecessary” classes on you.

There are different accreditations so requirements can vary from school to school on how many general education requirements there are and how it breaks down. Then the school itself can determine how many credit hours each major requires in the form of set classes plus electives within the major.

Schools and classes vary, but for most schools each class is somewhere between 3-5 credit hours per class. Each semester a student might take 12-24 credit hours (4-6 classes). A 4year degree might require 120-140 credit hours total to graduate consisting of your major studies plus general education.

Some schools even make classes specifically for students outside the major like math for artists or art for engineers. They’re generally easier courses with lower expectations making it relevant to the students. An artist science class might be drawing and labeling skeletal structures for example.

For accreditation purposes, US colleges require all students to take a minimum amount of credit hours in a variety of different areas of study. So most Americans with 4 year degrees have taken at least 1 lab science class, 1 math class, 1 art class, 1 English class, 1 history class, etc.

I’ve been using Dreaming Spanish and have learned more Spanish in 3 months than I ever did in 3 semesters of high school. I’ve tried to use different apps and methods over the years and never felt like I made much progress until now. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn Spanish.

I saw a 450 sq ft shack listed at $4 mil. GTFO. Yes it’s near the beach and has been used as a rental or is likely meant to be a teardown, but seriously FO. There’s nothing going for less than $1000/sq ft and most are at least $1500 with ridiculous $1000/month HOA fees. Just FO with that noise.

The Ford/Ormond version was better. There’s still a 23 year age gap, but Ford has always looked good for his age and seemed younger and Ormond has an inherent sophistication that makes her seem more age appropriate. Bogart just seemed like her grumpy old dad whereas Ford is believable to fall for.

I’m still stuck on an episode of DS9 where Keiko, who was looks in her 30s or early 40s, goes to visit her mom on her 100th birthday. Her daughter is like ~3. Someone said Picard is ~150 on Picard, but I haven’t watched it. So I’m guessing they live longer, but not 200+.

I spent 2 years on Mastodon before here and decentralization was the biggest problem. Hard to find anyone. Constant drama, scolding, and instance beefs. A lot of people who acted like they owned the place and everyone else’s presence was merely tolerated until they said otherwise. Boring AF.

My issue is that the platforms are updating their TOS to say you no longer own a copy of the game you purchased. It’s now considered leasing access until they decide otherwise. If you have a physical copy, it’s harder to do that. It’s just another part of the trend of not letting people own things

I’ll have to look into them. I’ve never been west of Bilbao, but am planning to go from Basque through Asturias and Galacia looking for interesting sights and have been compiling a list.
