Devils were outplayed. Mammoth won the puck battles all night. Hughes-Bratt-Mantha line hasn’t really looked in sync at all. Rodrigues-Gritsyuk-Mercer was not a factor at all. Special teams failed. Aside from that, great game (imagine my eyes rolling).

He always gets off to a fast start. Let’s see where he is in two months.

Was out yesterday, and was only able to catch the last 15 minutes of regulation and the overtime. Had to like what we saw.

He’ll be fine. And that was one helluva pass to Gritsyuk for the goal.

The great thing about these owners is that they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

The offseason starts on Monday...and I eagerly look forward to seeing what changes are forthcoming (well, at least until the lockout).

You lost me at “journalists.” They are merely talking heads reading Trump Administration press releases.

Also have noticed this. It’s not happening every game, but it is happening more often.

Texans: Make sure you are registered to vote. Being on the voter suspense list does not mean your voter registration has been purged. It simply means that local officials need an updated address before October 5th – the voter registration deadline in Texas.

Didn't three of the Fed governors indicate today they were considering raising the lending rate? I guess that's just more fake news.

I'm sure that the Boy Genius will find a power-hitting fourth outfielder in Korea and convert him to a first baseman, all in the name of run prevention.

Maybe it’s a combination of injury-proneness and lack of production when he’s been given an opportunity to play. In any event, they could have traded him when he was one of many playing the same position (3B) before destroying any market value he may had had. What a waste of an asset.

McLean deserved far better...but realistically the Mets are using a Triple A bullpen now. Aside from Nuñez and Duarte (and not including anyone on the IL), ya think any of these guys will be in the Mets bullpen next season?

010

Lee Gottesman @leegottesman.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

The fact that nine of these newly-acquired players are already part of the Mets top 30 prospects is a damning indictment of the minor league system, the scouting staff, and player development. Not that we didn't already know that it was really bad.

220

Lee Gottesman @leegottesman.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

Don't understand why the Mets felt compelled to eat a large portion of Weaver's contract, even though the return looks like it could help in the future. Rojas and Stafura look like they can help down the road, but not for a couple of years. The immediate future of the Mets MLB squad is very bleak.

220

Lee Gottesman @leegottesman.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

Raley is on an expiring contract (so there's not much trade value there), and the Phillies farm system isn't very good right now...hard to believe that Stearns could not have gotten better from another team.

100

Lee Gottesman @leegottesman.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

At this point, I'm just watching so I can hear GKR's riffs on things beyond baseball and Gelbs's hot dog odyssey. The game action itself is otherwise not worth my time or attention...and it's been a long, long time since I've said that.

110

Lee Gottesman @leegottesman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

There have been several times this season that Gary has sounded like an unapologetic shill...which is very uncharacteristic.

110

Lee Gottesman @leegottesman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

Not enough is being said/written about the inability of the pitching coaches now on the Mets staff to straighten Peralta (and before him, Peterson) out. Just what are these guys watching?

110

Lee Gottesman @leegottesman.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

So...the idea that the Mets could afford to pay down Bichette's contract and Lindor's contract in order to move them is not going to fly this time around. Which is fine.
