Monumentally scary, horrifically liminal and lost in the dream logic of itself. Geographic fugue and architectural unreality. A talkie beholden to the rules of silent film surrealism, maybe even made more uncanny by the few whispered words and grunts in silhouette symphony and creeping camera pans.
