Agreed, there has never been a truly free market. Every market is always "regulated", either manipulated by a cartel of major players, or in rare cases (and not for long) managed by independent regulators to prevent manipulation. It comes down to who the regulator works for.

Between my wife's practice, several retirement accounts and all the IRS rules, it is far too easy to make a trivial mistake. 30 pages of forms, each with many fields all of which must be correct. Automatic validity checking is required. Inexcusable complexity and ZERO support from IRS...

Russia has the largest land area in the world (17.1 million sq km), almost uncountable natural resources that they cannot manage competently. So they want a new colony about the size of Texas that is reasonably well managed. That way the russians can fuck over their neighbor to the south too.

Columbus, OH doesn't have quite the view but about 100 years ago, a farmer willed the back half of his farm to become a park by the river. That began the Olentangy trail, 14 miles from north to downtown. Then the Scioto trail and Camp Chase rail-to-trail. Insanely healthy for mid-Ohio! One farmer!

My mother (lived in Yonkers just north of New York city) told us of flotillas of B-17s darkening the sky. U.S. deployment of soldiers, sailors and airmen, manufacture of weapons and logistics made huge contributions to WW2. As a boy in the 60's, I saw the effects of the war in nearly every family.
