I think a lot about what Carl Sagan said in one of his final interviews.

"WE'VE ARRANGED A society based on science and technology, in which nobody understands anything about science technology. And this combustible mixture of ignorance and power, sooner or later, is going to blow up in our faces. Who is running the science and technology in a democracy if the people don't know anything about it?"
"Science is more than a body of knowledge, it's a way of thinking. A way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility. If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then we're up for grabs for the next charlatan, political or religious, who comes ambling along."

Some of his readers have asked Mike Masnick @mmasnick.bsky.social why his technology news site, Tech Dirt, has been covering politics so intensely lately. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/04/w... I cannot recommend Mike's reply enough. It's exactly what readers need to hear, what journalists need to do.

Man, the thing I hate most about my fob is I always need to look at it closely. No touch or real popping visual indicators.

You know that Rivian sales are eating into Tesla MX and MS sales. How? You regularly have Tesla simps invading Rivian reddit posts to claim how much better Teslas are. Block. Every. Tesla. Simp.

Business titans publicly entreating Elon Musk to not engage in retributive oligarchy—using the same psychological play (“now I *know* I can *trust* you to not eat that cookie” vibes)—is pretty wild

Six decades later, Star Trek may still be the only franchise based on the ideas that diversity is strength, justice is the measure of civilization, bounty is to be shared, peace is worth the price, and all these things can be achieved. We need more shows that look ahead and find goodness.

Depending on what you need at least in the northeast they’re doing express visits. My original appointment was in January and now I’m going in next week. Worth calling.
