Still not getting it. In any other scenario a man wishing ill of men shooting kids in the head would be applauded by the majority. Why is it different when the IDF are doing the extreme child abuse action of killing.

It is like an EQ and IQ test for Labour back benchers. Will they fall for the manipulation ? Can the independently think in a critical way ? I'm genuinely interested to see who was sold fools gold.

Labour's biggest problem may be that by the time it wants to have an integrity of mission those who could have helped won't want to.

The issue is that this is not really a Uturn. It is a delayed imposition.

Can you make your point again clearly. I've shown these comments to a couple of friends and we're not sure what you're trying to say.

The lack of innovative policy. The attention to spreadsheet. The numbers without intelligent use of them. The lack of AI as even a minor consideration. The failure to consult. The lack of safeguards. The pretence of work coach skills that do not exist. The illusion of cost cutting. ...

Would we accept this kind of planning from our children or intervene to avoid their failure and ensure a positive outcome ?

Have a look at the downstream effects of reduced spending by PIP which due to their MPC and the multiplier effect will reduce GDP and cost jobs, not create, up to 90,000. It will at best reshuffle cost allocation not reduce costs-like switching short term to long term liabilties on an balance sheet.

Yes the transformation of a claimant's life going from the relatively 'protected' status to conditionality ( however much that is cheated on via reviews ) is as important as the financial aspect for mental health, autonomy and recovery from previous coercive control - amongst other life histories.
000
lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 26/06/2025
True. It is beginning to look like those at the 'top' really know very little about the issues, innovative policy possibilities and how AI could help, including how PIP payments could in permanent cases help to build assets otherwise denied for life.

lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 26/06/2025
It is astonishing just how arbitrary the lines drawn are - as if a spreadsheet were running the policy. It is also astonishing how little thought has been put into positive empowering reforms including the use of AI in them.

lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 26/06/2025
Yes we know only 27% of the population support the reforms with Labour members likely skewed even more so. Starmer has strayed too far from the track on this one. It may be Liz "Welfare Truss' black and white thinking to blame in part. Ignorance as well. And failure to pay for innovative policy.

I thought that here you were implying that it is a majority of Labour MPs..."I am trying to remember the last time a majority of a PM's own party opposed a measure before it was presented"

The error in concept of Labour's 'we put the Truss in Welfare' bill.

Whence Labour leadership thinks that concessions to MPs are the issue rather than centering those affected by change and inadequate services.
011
lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 26/06/2025
There are not 50% of Labour MPs against it yet unless I missed something today. However, they should be. It is an out of date bill before being voted on. No concept of the role of AI in service provision.

lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 26/06/2025
We certainly shouldn't exclude the possibility that Starmer's crew have calculated that if they can get these reforms through with the Conservatives they sum that it will be 'clear sailing' thereafter with the rebellion over but unachieving. It would be short sighted but 'pragmatic' on its surface.

We'll see I guess - but the UKs recent history is full of PMs who pushed ahead contrary to consensus advice and lived to rue it - but at a huge cost to the UK poulation.
100
lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 25/06/2025
We seem to have a large number of MPs with integrity - maybe it will return to parliament - but are we convinced that Starmer values his own MPs over conservatives? He is more likely to empower the conservatives than the disabled I fear.

It is disturbing just how many senior politicians in Labour have huge areas of ignorance on the issues in relation to disability: the trajedy is that it means their 'reforms' are destined to fail both the disabled and society equally. And the opposition ? Haven't got the wherewithall to oppose.
010
lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 25/06/2025
It is incredibly useful for opposition parties that the Labour MPs failing to do their job paint the target on their seats like this. Now the job is for oppositions to work together, sometimes through primaries, to ensure their unseating.

A comfortable life creates many empathy gaps. In the UK we have a similar issue with those ignorant of the lives of the disabled literally voting to plunge them and their children further into poverty. Always done 'for their own good'.

Aha, if we re talking about Green strategy and tactics, yes there are largely absent and it can be feared that they will fail to score penalties in an indefensible goal. They need to take advice or pay for it but can do very well if they sort it out with those voting for the cuts painting targets.

The self perception of the rich is almost invariably reinforcing of their own needs above others. It is not narcissism in the traditional or diagnostic sense but a perpetual 'just a bit more for me' attitude that fails to look at the rest of the field - or their circumstance.

They seem to have a point. As an ordinary citizen with no vested interests it is astonishing to see the moral objection to genocide treated as terroristic and the genocide itself supported. The government is going to be as unpopular with the voters as Johnson and Truss.

You need funding for some policy think tanks. Current routes are slow and do not take advantage of AIs rapid assessment and feasibility features.

The welfare vote may be an opportunity for MPs with a range of concerns (cuts, foreign policy, Home Office over-reach) to vote in opposition as a deterrence. Without an effective deterrent government will continue to ride roughshod over citizens rights including the disabled. Power needs checking.

lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 23/06/2025
Will those opposed to genocide have the wit to join the opposition to the welfare cuts ( and so avoid the obvious ) or do we think they are a unified set ?
000
lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 23/06/2025
An own goal once the welfare vote self selects the target seats. Primaries an obvious additional need so as not to split the progressive vote. 80-90 seats currently available I believe from about 150 to fight - but that is on a closing timeframe because of the logistics.

If you want me to read things please post links. Its unreasonable to expect a search. However, broadly speaking I have the ability to empathise with both sides and would have come down against it on the day, not because of opposition in principle but because of amendments not won.

You may have misunderstood. The purpose of disabled candidates is not performative but suggested through 'primaries' which I guess you've heard of ? in winnable seats. Important to distinguish free votes from party policies. And also to distinguish 'better than' from 'all the same'.

It isn't enough to assert jenbrook, you need to explain. I can assert many things but without reason or argument it makes no sense: are you sure that you have not internalised a negative self worth belief in relation to something you could be self assured about ?

lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 23/06/2025
Disabled voters are powerful & growing. Welfare vote needn’t be pejorative if grounded in respect (> help who?) The AD bill, a conscience vote not party policy, but repair trust: disabled candidates, policies shaped by lived exp. & clarity that future conscience votes won’t bypass the most affected.

This is where Poland falls down in international esteem. There are jobsworths like this in all countries but Poland, despite its magnificent growth and wonderful people and culture, does get a bit silly on the rules sometimes - penalising pedestrians for crossing empty roads na przyklad.

The UK has no independent foreign policy and appears to be willing to recruit the Home Office to serve other countries - banning peaceful protest from those protesting genocide. Very low point in uk government.
021
lbrgen.bsky.social @lbrgen.bsky.social · 23/06/2025
What has the UK become ? No independent foreign policy. The Home Office acted as an arm of Israel. Decent peaceful citizens being treated as terrorists. This is the kind of thing that happens before seismic change.

What the Greens lack for the moment is cold strategy. The welfare vote will provide the target seats and in conjunction with primaries, perhaps disabled candidates and very clear messaging 90 seats may be posisble.

When we start to analyse the timeline we see that Trump's '2 weeks' was simply the creation of a time slot to deliver munitions for the Iron dome prior to the planned attack. May explain the impotence of Lammy and Starmer. Once upon a time the UK had its own foreign policy.

Great to hear you are sticking up for the disabled - are you uaware of the possible hit to the economy of the proposals you oppose. Modelling suggests it will cause a drop in GDP equal o or in excess ofthe imagined gains 5-7.5Bn. Check it out yourself (MPC and multiplier effects downstream-90kjobs.)

To be fair, it wasn't just because she was a woman. Her policy positions were not attractive and as Obama said she was 'likeable enough' but not liked even by her own side, mainly because of her hawkish sentiment.
