🛡️ LBP Union believes in responsible patching to play LBP online. You need to: 1. Know what server you're connecting to 2. Know the risks 3. Have your full consent Sticker patching doesn't fit the bill; here's why: #littlebigplanet #BeaconLBP

Responsible Patching. LBP Union supports patching methods where players can understand the risks, know exactly what server they’re connecting to, and respect intellectual property and services.

✅Patching software (Refresher)

- Empowers the user to choose their server
- Resistant to MiTM attacks
- Forces user to understand the risks.

❌Sticker patching

- Opaque; address cannot be easily customized by end-user

- Hidden server URL means MiTM attack could take place

- Exploits actively supported networks (PSN on PS4/PS5), putting our community at risk

LittleBigPlanet Security Advisory: Beacon Extended Downtime - LBP Union

We are indefinitely suspending service for Beacon, our LittleBigPlanet custom server, due to a critical client-side security vulnerability.

📡 #BeaconLBP has been brought offline to investigate client-side safety concerns. Please join our Discord server to get notified about further updates. We are committed to finding solutions to continue enjoying #littlebigplanet together lbpunion.com/discord

Server Safety Investigation
Yesterday, at 10:02 PM ET, Beacon was brought offline for investigation of a reported means to forcibly join a user without their consent and abuse client-side scripts. Since this is an issue that exploits the game's peer to peer capabilities, it would not be able to be mitigated by any custom server.

This is a cautionary measure: no P2P attacks have been confirmed or reported. We are investigating the safety and feasibility of continuing service for Beacon. We are aiming to have a definitive answer about the immediate future of Beacon within the coming days. Rest assured, we are committed to finding solutions to continue enjoying our favorite game together.

In the meantime, here's what you can do to keep up with what's going on:

Ensure you are subscribed to Beacon notifications or server status announcement roles in Channels & Roles

Keep an eye on our status-history channel to look for changes in the game server status.

This is beautiful right here. I got into games because I was sick growing up. So I couldn't spend a lot of time outside without ending up in the hospital. I didn't get LBP until I was in college, but I was going in for game design at the time so everything clicked. And it truly was an experience.
