I liked Backrooms. I don’t think the horror or characters always worked perfectly (still, good acting!) but the environment, atmosphere, and themes definitely resonated with me. Loved how it was shot and scored especially. It did a pretty good job of getting that dreamy-nostalgia tone that I like.

I haven't played Super Mario Bros. Wonder since launch because of the save file thing. I don't want to create a new user on my system just to replay the game without deleting my save. I want to keep everything on one account, with the hours tracked. It's really frustrating that this is standard now.

It's hard NOT to play as a velociraptor in Terraria when that's a given option.

The Super Mario Galaxy movie doesn’t bother me because it’s really bad, it bothers me because it dares to be really bad while ripping the title from the most beautiful Mario game. With that said, Yoshi was cute and the Star Fox segment was cool.

I still get excited when I see Blender used out in the world in a professional setting. It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that it's no longer an underdog.

Not an alien movie, but I think The Shawshank Redemption was the movie that made me realize you can have a very thoughtful, emotional and resonant film without a poignant ending. Sometimes a movie just needs a joyful cathartic ending. Project Hail Mary had me worried but it delivered!

Xeno was really corny but could have still won me over if they just focused on the gimmick instead ruining it just to tie a bow on their B-plot. That's a movie that desperately needed a happy ending, instead they focused on an element I didn't care about and bittersweet ended up just being bitter.

Sometimes movies will get really close but fumble it in the end. Elio really frustrated me because, despite the production issues, the story they ended up with felt like a really good first draft.

Man, I want to see it again. (Spoilers) I have a list of things that define the perfect buddy-alien movie for me and this checked all of the boxes. It's not a perfect movie by any means, but it hits all the right beats. Especially their dynamic. I can definitely see this being a comfort watch for me

Project Hail Mary was pretty good. It's pretty easy to win me over if you have a friendly alien with a cool design.

Almost every “good celebrity“ story I’ve read has been something like “I know they’re a good person because I saw them again a year later and they remembered my name!”. I do not appreciate this metric of morality in the slightest.

LazyAlarm @lazyalarm.ca · 07/03/2026
So far everyone I’ve ever met who said “I’m also terrible at remembering names!” has been lying to me. If you remember my name an hour later, you are not at the same tier as me. That’s stolen valor.

I think digital synthesizers would be so much nicer to use if more of them went for a node-based interface instead of relying on skeuomorphism.

Definitely an upgrade over manually editing the points in the mesh points array.

Just beat Metroid: Zero Mission. Got the bad ending, but I don't care. That game was awesome.
Screenshot from Zero Mission. It says Clear Time: 7:27:34, Your rate for collecting items is 68%. See you next mission! The background is an illustration of Samus fully suited.

Dark Souls has a very "before and after" effect. Since beating it, I play games differently now, I think about games differently now. It's like a video game puberty.

I need more music tutorials made by non-musicians. Jargon + Poetic metaphor + 20 second guitar / piano solo does not equal an explanation to me. I'm sure minds that work like that are very suited to the world of music but I need a translation.

Why does everything take up so much storage? Google is a search engine. my emails are on a server. What is happening?

This has been a great year for the engine, but there are still a lot of things we would love to do. If each person visiting our website donated €5, we could hire 5 more developers to work on Godot full-time. 👉 fund.godotengine.org

I'm finding it harder and harder to get up to date information on programming forums. I'm guessing many of the people that would have previously gone to forums for help now rely on Ai. As a consequence there's less up to date information available. This worries me.

I didn't realize YouTube changed the default sorting order for comments! I have missed so many because they weren't "relevant". What the hell does that even mean? Judging by the comments that apparently don't meet the criteria, it means nothing! They were just chosen willy-nilly!
Screenshot from the YouTube Studio site. Community tab which shows comments has filter options, the highlighted one is called "Sort by" with two options: Most relevant(default) and Newest.

A little character I have been working on.
Blender model of small astronaut character. Notably, its head is one big eye. It is a violet coloured suit with bright orange secondary colours on the belt, gloves, sole of the shoe and backpack. The Iris of the eye is green.

YOU CAN'T SCALE MULTIPLE LAYERS SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH TRANSFORM TOOLS! You have to -Make a layer group -add your layers to the layer group -Menu bar -> Layer -> Scale Layer -MANUALLY TYPE IN RESOLUTION/PERCENTAGE This program is 27 years old.

LazyAlarm @lazyalarm.ca · 18/09/2025
I'd like the transform tools to be out here please. I'm trying to adjust the whole image, not just the part that's on the canvas. So far it seems the only way around this is to rescale the canvas to fit everything, move the image, then crop the canvas again. That's ridiculous.
Image from GIMP. There is an image bigger than the canvas, but the transform tools are limited to within the canvas, making it a pain to scale the image down to fit.

They should let you search by performing the shortcut. I don't know what the shortcut I'm doing is called, I just know that something happens when I press Ctrl+D; I want YOU to tell me what.

I was beginning to think that I was breaking ground with all of the questions I had that had apparently never been asked before. Then I switched back and realized that not only had my questions been asked before, they had been asked almost word-for-word by several people!

I switched back to Google after using DuckDuckGo for a little while. Google search may be getting worse but DuckDuckGo was useless for more than half of my searches. It didn't even feel like it was searching what I typed in but rather some semi-related inquiry. Surely it's just a bug?

Is it normal for Ctrl+C to need multiple presses in order to actually copy something to the clipboard? I have had so many instances where I carefully copy something, see an indicator that the thing has been copied, then paste and nothing appears. It's become second nature to spam it at this point.

This being unchecked by default is despicable. Just lost an hour to debugging because of this.
